Golden & Catching Rays by Chris Dale
Are you sick of him yet? Because there’s more!
Gabriel’s native culture is actually pretty androgynous. Royalty and nobles wear a lot of jewellery and precious stones, fine fabrics with excuisite textures. It’s a very hot climate so layers are minimal and textures are very fine. As is the amount of clothing. These people aren’t particularly taboo about nakedness.
Sketches at 5 a.m.
Those hands though? Those hands! Uuuuuu!

Still messing around with my precious cloud child.
In his native culture, jewellery is common for both men and women. Royals wear the most, and princes would often be seen with a multitude of bracelets, anklets, and chains. However, Gabriel is far from home, in a land where, until recently, his people were slaves taken during the war years. Here, jewellery is seen as vulgar and highly effeminate. Women wear a little — mostly rings signifying their house of birth and marriage. Men wear none at all.
As a member of the royal staff, Gabriel not only defies norms but risks punishment and ridicule for wearing earrings ‘like a whore’. He’s willing to take that risk in the name of his identity. He has been made to wear local clothes, speak the local language, and cut his hair in the local fashion, but he’s a stubborn, defiant cloud and you can rip his emeralds off his cold, dead corpse.
My newest son, Gabriel. Still working him out and trying to pin his features down.

Aleksei is a tired, battered boy. Always.
Some soft boys.
A v quick Timothee Chamalet before I get on with my day. Trying to get better at the basics, capturing likeness with a quick glance and seeing more accurately.
A busted Alex. ‘Busted’ is his default setting and he is not ashamed.

A melancholy boy.
Heinrich Lefler (7 November 1863, Vienna – 17 March 1919, Vienna) was an Austrian painter, graphic artist and stage designer. His father was the painter Franz Lefler.
It’s canon that Alex is a hypebeast.
Precious boy. Luca Moretti is a blessing to draw.
