A great place to eat and lounge
If someone is driving downtown Jackson, Miss they might notice the tall building, or people walking around in suits. Well there are also restaurants that are local inside certain building, or on each corner. Wasabi Sushi and Bar happens to be on of those places. It is located on the bottom floor of 100 E. Capitol Street, just across the street from The Elite. The restaurant made their grand opening December 19, 2010, and is continue to grow. The vision behind Wasabi was “My passion is the food I love to create. I love to cook the traditional and it seems to me that it makes me very thankful to see the people enjoy what I cooked. “ Says owner Lina Lynn. The restaurant specializes in Japanese cuisine, Asia cuisine, hibachi, and sushi. The customer’s favorite dish is the fillet mignon roll. It is a thin slice filet top with snow crab adding on a secret spice that will melt in someone’s mouth. They also have a list of appetizer to choose from including: Crab cheese wontons, Shrimp Shumai, Hamachi Kama, and Crab Spring Roll just to name a few. Lin husband also created 25 different types of sushi dishes that are not located on the menu.
The company grows it ‘s own organic vegetables, and brings them to the business to insure that everything is fresh for the customer likes. They also partner with the local farms to bring them business. Lina say’s she gets asked everyday why she has her business in downtown Jackson. “Back seven years ago when it was parkway. My friends came to me and said Lina, we have a great spot, and I think we need an Asia restaurant because there is no Asia restaurant nearby. We’ll be happy to assist with anything that you need help with.” Say’s Lina. She knew it was the right place for her because she always saw people carrying their lunch to work, and they were always smiling. Lina was not worried about the bad things people told her about downtown Jackson. She knew it was here home, and she was ready to start her business. “I saw a business opportunity as soon as I saw the location. I went to the landlord, and we got a deal in ten days, but it took three years to get the restaurant ready.” Lina said. Tiffany Stevens a waitress at Wasabi enjoys working for the company. “I have been working at Wasabi for a year and half since April 2014. I love waitressing, and going home with cash every night.” Tiffany says. Wasabi is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Hours are 11:00am to 2:00pm for lunch, and 5:00pm to 10:00pm for dinner Monday through Friday. Weekends are 12:00pm-11:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays 12:00pm to 9:00pm. There are lunch specials that started at $8.95 and up. If someone wants to get more information about the restaurant they visit the website at WWW.Wasabims.com or simply go inside, and have a bit to eat.
