I need Blue’s cgm to go off at the most inconvenient, awkard time.

Because is he even diabetic if it doesn’t.

I think it’s cool they added it in but hope it’s not a oh he’s diabetic and they never mention it again. Even when controlled diabetes requires alot of maintenance.

Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely thrilled to be getting some diabetic representation. However, as a diabetic, I am legally required to be critical of every single diabetes related thing that this show depicts; I couldn’t stop if I wanted too.

Kudos for the stress causing high blood sugar detail, because that is accurate, but who the hell takes their insulin like that? Maybe I saw it wrong, but he just whipped out a syringe and injected… what? air? There is no such thing as a pre-filled syringe. An insulin pen, sure, but those look nothing alike and could never be mistaken for each other.

I have somewhat mixed feelings on the show treating it like it’s nbd. On one hand, yes, diabetics can live totally normal lives and have high activity jobs like firefighting and our disability doesn’t automatically bar us from that. On the other hand, diabetes is a full-time job and it is unyieldingly present in every aspect of our lives no matter how well it’s managed, so just casually dropping that lore after 3 1/2 episodes, ehhhhhhhhh, idk how to feel about that.

I’m interested to see where they go with this, and I sincerely hope that they didn’t just slap some random medical condition onto Blue, but actually put care and effort into this. Time will tell

No because I struggle so bad with even doing physical therapy without my blood sugar dropping and you’re telling me he’s able to firefight perfectly fine.

I know people can be active and have type 1 but I just know the extra prep I have to do to mange my blood sugar.

I didn’t notice and then the scene where his mom is like that’s your cgm 😭 don’t know how I feel about this show yet but I’ve recently started using a cgm.

Also know everyone with diabetes is different but if I exert too much energy and my blood sugar drops so bad so shout out to blue doing a dangerous job because I’d be passed out with a sugar level of 50 doing all he does.
