i think its so beautiful that jon and martin can ONLY work in the one timeline they're in. yes, it's sad. yes, it didn't really work out as it should have.
but think about it. jon and martin knew that their love was an anomaly. a one time occurring event, a butterfly in a snowstorm. and they cherished it for what it was, they were literally each other's reason to keep going! they knew they probably wouldn't have worked in any other instance. yet they still saw it through till the end, because maybe- just maybe they'll find each other again.
yeah, soulmates through every timeline is a cute trope, but what about lovers who are alone in their own timeline? despite every other timeline where they don't work, they find that one instance where they do?
and i also wonder, if in another timeline, jon and martin make eye contact for just a second. then they might go, "do i know him?" then brush it off as if the wind just shifted.
