Would Sylveon be a good pet? they are like the most domesticated out of all the 8 eeveelutions.

(Would you look at that, it’s another one of my favorite pokémon, that’s a happy coincidence!)

Sylveons would indeed make excellent pets! They retain the friendly nature and lovable personality of their pre-evolution eevee, all wrapped up in a pink-and-blue ribbon. That isn’t to say that caring for a sylveon will always be easy, however, so make sure you consider carefully before adopting, like with any pokémon.

At fifty pounds and three feet tall, having a sylveon around would be a bit like having a large-but-lightweight dog. They are known to grow attached to their owners…literally… as they like to wrap their ribbon-like feelers around them (Y). Speaking of these feelers, which were called organs in the past (Legends: Arceus): sylveons can use them to emit a “soothing aura” (X), which is said to prevent fights by weakening hostility (Sun) and erasing enmity (Sword). Sylveons have a naturally calming presence, which would make them excellent support Pokémon for those who struggle with anxiety or emotional regulation.

It would be a mistake, however, to consider sylveons to be pacifists. In the wild, sylveons are hunters that dazzle their prey with the fluttering of their feelers before pouncing on them (Moon). Sylveons don’t shy away from battle, especially when it comes to dragon-type pokémon, with whom they seem to have some sort of natural rivalry. In the heat of battle, sylveons are known to challenge dragon pokémon “many times larger” than they are (Ultra Sun). In the Galar Region there’s even a fairy tale that speaks of a brave sylveon “vanquishing a dreadful dragon pokémon” (Shield). Sylveons actually have a pretty robust set of moves, making use of disorienting attacks like Sand Attack and Baby-Doll eyes to weaken foes before striking with heavy-hitters like Moonblast or Double-Edge. If a sylveon wants to, they can put up quite a fight. There’s a pretty low chance that they would use these moves on a beloved owner, but like we always say: accidents can always happen and should be considered.

In whole, sylveons would make great pets. They’re brimming with personality and good vibes (quite literally on that count), and are unlikely to lash out at humans. If you adopt one, however, you may want to keep them away from dragon-type pokémon!
