I’m so lazy ; this is basically copied and pasted from talking with @himncskur. have some info on boson.
In some spaces, Boson is regarded as a deity. In others, they’re at trickster. In many, they’re BOTH. In some cases, the label fits. Most incidents, however, are wholly accidental.
Boson jumps through time and space between ‘moments of perception’ *. This happens consistently and is out of Boson’s control, aside from making the jump to begin with. Once the ‘jump’ is made, Boson bounces without a direction until making contact with a living thing.
* ‘Moments of perception’ are best defined by the question: if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Boson has to have someone or something to perceive him in order to exist AT ALL. There are no moments when Boson can be alone, as Boson is unable to have a physical body without someone who is seeking him. Realistically, Boson could stay in place until someone seeks them out, but if he doesn’t make the ‘jump’ to a new point in timespace, he can’t do anything at all until that seeker finds him. There are more technicalities here, but we’ll talk about those later.
They either speak through something like mental radio waves—liminal radio for the liminal mind—or they form themself into a solid physical being by manipulating the molecules around them. For the most part, their physical form is an illusion, but it is tangible. Being around them for an extended amount of tiime can often feel like being at a high altitude.
MOST OF THEIR POWER IS ILLUSIONARY, but ( through a certain span of their existence ; too young to crave cruelty and too old not to know about consequence ) they push events any given way all the time just to make the ‘story’ more interesting. This makes their weird sense of chronology a little more bearable.
No one can never tell the kind of mood or mental state that Boson will be in because the Boson they meet tomorrow could be significantly younger than the Boson they met yesterday. His yesterday was centuries from his today and in any given direction. He has no solid context of what’s going on. Ever.
In his younger states, Boson presented more like an alchemist of sorts, specializing in transformational work, and it’s nothing if not effective. It’s worth noting that he DID NOT originate on our earth or within our universe or dimension. His home space falls much more in the category of dark fantasy, and he prided himself on leading a roguish lifestyle.
Later, when he gains the ability to ‘jump’ further than our known universe and between dimensions, he also gains the ability to revive the dead—to an extent. He’s able to raise the body, but only parts of the mind and spirit. The raised would remember only things they shared with Boson or that others could share about them. The reason for this is that he’s EXTENDING HIMSELF, and he can only supply stories, not full memories. there’s more to this, but another time, perhaps.
Anything your muse wants to know, Boson is willing to tell, granted he know about it at the time. He does his best to keep the secret of his true nature from the average human and pass himself off as an ‘average human’, but many have met him enough times to know more than they would ever want to know. Depending on the version of Boson you meet, he will have different memories. Sometimes, he remembers your muse at a much much older age than the person that they are now. ** This often leads to self-fulfilling prophecies and a lot of tension. He changes often but is always the same under the surface. Never really learns but has tons of lessons to share. It’s because he messes up a lot.
** Boson has the capacity to be a metagame character, I know, but the way I can pull the reins on that is by plotting. I love to exploit the weaknesses of powerful characters. And yeah, he’s got plenty.
He’s constantly reincarnating, so there could be three of them manifesting at any given point. Just in different places with different faces. So one is usually trying to fix what the other is actively wrecking things.
Boson collects stories to share with others. It’s one of his favorite things and part of why he exists. Just to keep stories alive and interesting in any way necessary, as defined by Boson. Stories keep him going. The more AUTHENTIC, the better, but some need a push.
