New Chapter is Out!
Don't Hold Your Tongue - Chapter 19 - Pipermccloud - Disney - Fandom, Rescuers Down Under [Archive of Our Own]
Sometimes I feel like making an entire tag dedicated to McLeach's parents + Wells to go into exactly what resulted in this guy being so messed up.
Rewatched Disney’s The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under and have concluded that McLeach is underrated as a Disney villain
Thinking about maybe sometime in the future, making Don't Hold Your Tongue its own original work. There'd be some things I'd have to change. I could take all the previous one-shots of McLeach's upbringing and start off from there.
The anger came back; it was the kind of anger Percival couldn't ignore; it eats at his heart and soul like mold inside a house's walls. All the bad things that happened, the tears, the lost time, he wanted so desperately for it to mean something.
The thing about this sort of pain is when its with you long enough, you feel lost without it; your own jailer. If you can make nothing else out of it, why not build a home?
The loss of time and potential and everything he used to hold dear, its a special kind of agonizing. The world kept spinning, and he kept living, and that anger keeps metastasising, until he felt like there was nothing good left of him.

Made by my friend Spooks during an art stream.
Your favorites are garbage and thats okay
I know that its infuriating that some people say your favorites are horrible or "nazi coded" its happened to me before and ill admit I was very infuriated. Thankfully I found some people who speak my language and while yes ill admit my favorite isnt a good person and still took part in a heinous crime, I can be rest assured that shes not the worst. Unfortunately some people will definitely stan the worst and act like they are secret heroes.
First id like to talk about the most common people who are often seen as good people despite the film EXPLICITLY SAYING THEYRE HORRIBLE.
Lets start with Gaston shall we. While he isnt the worst compared to the 2 im about to talk about next, hes still awful tho. He was sexist and rude towards Belle and tried to lock her father up. He also gaslit the whole town into attacking beast. Like yeah hes a beast, but he wanted to kill him out of jealously. This is much different from how gantu underestimated stitch
Gantu saw stitch as what he was created to be, not that this his methods were right. They were absolutely wrong. However Gaston wasnt going to kill the beast out of being misunderstood, rather he saw how affectionate Belle was towards him. So he decided to kill him especially after Belle gave him a reality check
Now we have frollo who is just much worse. Not only is he an incel, but hes a bigot. He trapped a bunch of villagers inside and tried to burn their house down and there are literally people who think hes right. Honestly its red flag and we shouldnt ignore it. Same with Gaston. Ig theyre really popular with alt right chuds and incels althougbt not everyone who thinks this are those. Yeah theyre attractive looking men, but theyre still evil.
Now for the main topic of this post the man who may or msy not have kicked this off. Hes not as popular as the other 2, so i ddint bother dissing his fans off, but i always felt there were people who did think he was right. Ladies and gentlemen the commander who threw out his lieutenant who trusted him, had no regrets for punching a king (enjoyed it too), trying to off an entire civilization, participating in a real life massacre, and punching milo in the face. Please welcome lyle rourke.
My goat honestly isnt a good person and ive come to terms with that, but I honestly think hes worse. At least she had regrets about harming an entire people not that it excuses her actions, but Rourke never shows any concern. You can already see it in the crystal chamber. He obviously wants a paycheck and doesnt care. Imma just say it if you think hes hero material, then it's a red flag. Hes not a secret hero hes an evil bastard. Helgas not a saint either, but it must be noted that both characters are intertwined and the more I write essays about helga i realize that rourke is more complicated than I thought. Ill admit I kinda used him as a scapegoat to excuse helga and I have been mad over opinions about her, but I am learning. So just understand that its okay to like a garbage person and dont harass others because they think different.
how it feels when the character doesn’t break the cycle and in fact actively perpetrates it
The past consumes his brother. He fears it'll take him over completely again.
Casey has seen it before: the restless behavior, the turbulence in his sleep-deprived eyes, the red on his wrist. He's done what he can to help Percy, even when it prevented him from moving on with his own life. When he heard about him going over the waterfall, A part of him wonders if it was on purpose. Casey prayed that it had been quick, and if it wasn't, prayed that it didn't hurt for too long. Casey remembers him fondly. He knows him well. His brother was a hunter. Even long before Casey could remember, Percy helped keep the family fed. His brother was an artist; he makes use of his kills, not a part left wasted. His brother is a kidnapper.
Percy stood up against their foster father, once, when he tried to separate them. He's a protector, even when it left him broken and bedbound. His brother was sunshine, a bright soul. Percy used to hold him late at night when Casey missed Mama, tell him stories to calm him down. Percy would sneak him most of his own food when Wells with withholding it.
His brother is a killer.
Casey cannot tell you the things he would have done if it meant saving him. The brother he watched deteriorate, until it got too much for even him to handle. He regrets not trying harder; he is sick with grief. The guilt eats him alive. It doesn't matter, and it never will. He never raised the knife, pulled the trigger or stole the child. Why does this guilt follow? Why does he still feel the need to hang onto the ghost of an elder brother who no longer existed?
He fears that the past will consume him all the same.
The thing Percival hates most is over-thinking. He does it too much, and it wears on him.
He thinks of Mama and Casey and how he could do nothing to protect them. He thinks of his father and Wells and how he's not all that different from them both. There was one upside, he thought. He'd like to think he'd be a better person, if it ever came down to it. He'd try. Then Cody comes along, and the cycle repeats.
He spends his days throwing himself onto his work. He spends half his time in the slaughtering room, skinning animals and turning their hides into usable product. Sometimes when he's holding a knife, he contemplates it, from throat to sternum, like the carcasses at the end of his skinning table.. He hates himself for it, not because he thinks it, but because he can't go through with it. He can't bleed out the sin. Can't bleed out what made him this way.
Imagine McLeach going outside the mine at night and enjoying the bright starry sky in the desert. It must be so clear out there.
