I know my value. Anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.
I’m not sure how I feel about this at the moment. I feel that men, being the scientifically proven physically stronger gender, should have restrictions to protect others from this. Sitting next to children on airplanes, however, is ridiculous as a grown woman could easily overpower a child just as well. Feminism is working to get women in these workplaces where they are doing physical strength requiring tasks, yet so many still don’t trust women taking up professions as firefighters or (lesser) police officers, etc. I do not agree with this poster’s ideas, however very little of it can be said truthfully.
[Goofy Voice] Why the HYUCK you lyin
I disagree that dressing appropriately. When women are told they can wear nothing but heavy clothing which conceals their figure entirely for them by society, yet men are free to walk around in water they wish, there's something wrong. I am an American, but I live in the middle of Africa. I wear shorts and skirts out and about which show my legs. I am given dirty looks by women, and some pervy looks from men. I no longer feel comfortable in the clothes I love because I am a female. Inequality.
Right, there are many issues with this. For one, I say dressing appropriately in reference to school dress codes, which are in place for both boys and girls, and are in place to prepare children for a dress code in a place of work. I don’t care what people wear in their private time, it’s not my business.
For another, you say women are told to dress a certain way, they are not, it’s called social convention, and it’s fine to disagree with it, but it’s not an enforced thing, it’s just peer pressure. If you bow to peer pressure that is your own choice, and if you fight against peer pressure there will be consequences to it, but that is the price you pay for doing something that is frowned upon. Not to mention men have their own social conventions, it’s not a gendered thing.
And lastly, I usually talk about issues in the west, because I live in the west and most of the people I interact with are also in the west, I apologise if things are different where you live, but I cannot include every single country. If you have an issue with the expectations of you as a woman where you live, I encourage you to fight against them, but it’s not what I’m referring to.
Social convention is what feminism is attempting to change.. Dressing however you want, at any time, anywhere should be 100% ok. Fir both genders.
Feminism is defined by the belief and enforcement of the equality of the sexes. What is your fundamental argument against this? Do you truly believe that one gender is better than the other?
Well for one, that’s not the definition of Feminism, Feminism is defined as “the advocacy of women’s rights to be equal to men,” not “equality.” And for another, Feminism is not synonymous with the concept of equality, nor does it really practice it these days, it’s quite possible to support equality for all without supporting Feminism, and I do.
Ah I see that. Where did you get your definition? Also, do you not think that women's rights are lesser than men's today? I interpret it as being equality, but, in order to reach that state at this time, women's rights must be advocated.
Why are you anti-Feminist and what is your central argument against it?
Hi. I’m anti-feminist because the ideals of Feminism doesn’t benefit anyone, both men, women, and everything in between. My central argument would be the counter-productive work that Feminism does for society, which would be 1) censorship, 2) outing girls who don’t align with Feminism 3) homophobia against gay men in particular 4) the lack of value given to real sexual harassment/rape.
Do you say this on an international spectrum? As forced marriages and breast ironing still happen. I somewhat think the fight for feminism is over in the US.. But equal pay and abolishing some stereotypes would be nice. I've travelled many places, though, and many where the oppression of women is far too alive.
