━━━ › elise guzman.
there had been countless nights like this , and elise knew there would be countless more . nights in which they wandered round the streets , serene yet heavy with a weight that cannot be placed , that they cannot attribute to any one thing in particular . the smell of marijuana doesn’t surprise her , as she’s grown far too accustomed to it ; if not due to izzy’s own multiple attempts at getting high , then certainly because of other people . & so she continues to wander along the street , eyes closed , lungs inhaling and exhaling the breeze that touches false humanity .
yet when an ever familiar voice calls , they are quickly brought back to reality , brown eyes snapping to the source . ❝ who are you t– ❞ it doesn’t take more than a second for izzy to realize that peridot isn’t sober , but she seems to be well enough to notice a possible danger behind the changeling — danger that they hadn’t noticed themselves . even so , elise is too taken aback by the hug to do anything about it , anything but stand there & wrap their own fragile arms around the woman , slowly yet appreciatively . ❝ … thank you , peridot . ❞ their voice is quiet , gaze shifting lightly from one point to another as if uncertain of where to look . when was the last time someone had hugged her ? years , perhaps decades even ! she inquires . surely elise would potentially be able to handle a stalker on their own , but not with perrie around . humans . ❝ are they gone ? ❞
‘ thank you, peridot. ’
Perrie almost misses the quiet, polite expression. Despite it being night and hardly any noise going on but the crickets chirping, Elise’s voice is just as soft as a gentle wind. In return, Peridot rubs her hand over the other’s back in reassurance. There have been a handful of times where someone has tried to follow Peridot without trying to be made. One time when she was walking home and when she realized she was being followed, Perrie ended up circling the block twice and when they kept on her, she jumped some fences and ran.
Of course it wasn't a pleasant memory but a harsh reality of the world she, as a woman, and other minorities face. This, to Perrie, also just means all the more to look out for other people. You never know when they're going to need it.
❛ Oh! Right, sorry. ❜ She whispers back, being pulled back from her own reverie. Perrie looks over to where the shadow was now turning away and rounding a corner. With a sigh of relief, the woman release Elise from her embrace with a smile. ❛ ... Well, that's surely going to put a bit of a damper on the night, innit? ❜ Shoving her hands into the deep pockets of her jean jacket, Perrie nudges Elise gently with an elbow. ❛ Never mind them, then. We've got each other now! - How do you feel? ❜ she asks, ❛ I can walk you the rest of the way home, if you'd like? ❜
