Peri Wynters || Twenty-One || Student || Pansexual || Magical
For the majority of their life, it has always been Peri and their mom. Living within a small town, just the two of them, with no other family members present with the exception of a few friends of her mom’s and close enough neighbors who Peri was close enough to view as family.
Peri was always a special and different person, ever since they were a child. And it all started back when Peri turned two when snow had fallen on the first day of Spring, which also known as their birthday. A surprising spectacle for the entire town, but one in which a two-year-old Peri had delightfully enjoyed as they spent their entire 2nd birthday outside, playing in the snow without a coat or gloves on for they weren’t bothered by the cold at the slightest. And to make things even more befuddling, as quickly as the snow appeared, it was gone once the day was over, almost as if it hadn’t happened in the first place.
It hadn’t dawned to Peri that they were the cause of the snow storm or that they had anything to do with it in the first place. It was all but a happy accident for them and a wondrous memory for them to look back on and enjoy the older they got. But it wasn’t until Peri got even older and was attending Middle School, was when they started to realize that maybe they did have a part in making that snow storm happen, because when the annoying kicking girl wouldn’t stop kicking the back of Peri’s chair at class one day, Peri had gotten so angry and frustrated that she wouldn’t stop, they began to angrily think of what they could do to get her to stop that the next minute they knew, it did. Peri turned back at the girl to see why she finally stopped and what they ended up seeing was the girl frozen solid in the seat behind her. The source? Peri, as there was a mixture of frost and ice leading directly towards where their hands had been digging against the back of their own seat— right where the girl’s frozen leg was in the process of kicking again. Peri got up from their seat and left without a word, never returning to school since then.
Their mom began homeschooling Peri after that, yet another thing they didn’t mind. It may have made their life a little more lonelier, but Peri didn’t have many friends at school anyways and the ones they did have they hadn’t been close enough to actually miss. Besides, this gave Peri the opportunity and chance to explore this newfound frost ability they found themselves with.
Peri tired to activate their magic again, finding difficulties in doing so at first unless they found themselves getting frustrated or feeling anything remotely negative or hostile. But Peri didn’t like that. They weren’t much of one who liked getting angry in the first place, and so Peri tried teaching themselves to learn how to use their magic from a more joyous place. And they were able to achieve that by recalling their most happiest memories, like their 2nd birthday.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, their mom eventually discovered how Peri was learning how to wild their magic and that resulted in an entirely new revelation for Peri. That being that their mom wasn’t their mom in the first place but their aunt! And that the reason why they were living in a small town in the first place was because Peri’s mom— er, aunt, took Peri away with her so they wouldn’t be surrounded by the magic where her aunt originally came from, Walt Grove. To say the least, Peri’s life was turned upside down and they were thoroughly upset at first, but it brought a newfound goal within Peri’s life, and that was to figure out who their actual parent’s are and if there were any other secrets about their life they have yet to be told about.
Once Peri became old enough, they applied for college at Walt Grove as an art and design major and was accepted. Saying goodbye to the mom they’ve always known while promising to keep in touch, Peri head off to Walt in hopes of finding the answers they’re looking for.
It has only been a year, but Peri would say they quite like their new life at Walt. Not only have they made friends along the way, but everything new they learned and discovered while living there has been exciting and eye-opening for Peri and they were loving it! The only thing that has been confusing to them since college began, was that whenever they were at the campus or at some place around the town, they would end up feeling a warmth they never felt before. One that felt as if they were being pushed towards something, but Peri didn’t know what. It was such a confusing feeling, one in which Peri desperately wanted to know why they felt from time to time with variating durations of time and because of that, they head to the library many times to see if they can find an answer. No luck as of yet!
A few times people had referred Peri as “Tessa”, especially this guy who goes by the name of Peter. And while Peri finds it to be a pretty name, they don’t know why people mistakes them for her. But whenever they try and ask, the other person ends up leaving or something distracts them both for Peri to ask that once they are given the chance to, the other person’s gone again! Much to Peri’s frustrations. Maybe they look a lot like this “Tessa” person though? It sure would be fun to find out!
Ever since they were young, Peri has always had an affinity for anything in the arts related, especially painting. They’ve been known to be widely creative and imaginative, and their mom thought one of the best outlets for Peri would be art. And the older they got and once they discovered their frost like magic, Peri soon realized that they preferred to water paint the most.
They also like to carry a sketch book with them from time to time in case creativity hits.
Peri also LOVES creating mini ice sculptures and figurines, along with all sorts of little trinkets and pieces of jewelry if they can with their magic. They know that they shouldn’t be always using them, and Peri doesn’t! In front of other people, but when they are at home and alone, they tend to use their magic often.
They love to collect things that they found and think are still useful or unique, and would find ways to repurpose them if needed.
Even before realizing that they had frost magic, Peri has always been someone who was resistant to the cold and preferred it over the warmer climates. They could literally walk out in shorts and no jacket during a snowy day and not feel a single chill. On the other hand, whenever it’s super warm and hot out, it tends to make Peri feel sluggish and they could even fall sick depending on how hot it is. Not to say they can’t handle the warmer weather as Peri does like it when it’s warm out too but they would need to be near shade from time to time or not be out for so long.
Peri is cold to touch, you hold their hands and it will be cold.
Realizing they were non-binary wasn’t a huge event for them. When they first learned about the word, they ended up researching more on it and realized that it sounded a lot like how they thought of themselves and went with it. They don’t mind being accidentally referred to as ‘she’ but much prefers ‘they&them’.
Is very expressive to the point where they like to use their hands whenever they speak and even their own body if they are especially feeling a whole abundance of emotions.
Their magic is most effective depending on how they’re feeling. Peri prefers to use them when they’re most happiest with snowflakes fluttering around them but their magic is more volte when they’re angry as ice spikes can and will be formed. However, their magic hasn’t been strong enough to cause an actual towns wide storm the way it did back when they were a child. But then again, they never tried to make it happen like that.
Peri rarely has a temper to them. They would get sad and upset first over getting angry, and even then, they would rather look at the positives and think things through maturely than get angry right away.
Is adventurous and enjoys exploring and learning new things, but does tend to try and look at situations maturely rather than impulsively.
Says “jingles!” a lot which adds a lot to their generally bubbly and cheerful personality.
Always creating and being creative, and always wanting to learn and learning, doesn’t matter what it is, they love to learn about new things and would express whatever they learn through their art if they can.
Absolutely is enamored by butterflies
