The Dark Flight (by Optipess)
just wanted to draw some attention to hayao miyazakis 75th birthday today, hes an amazing artist and fantastic filmmaker and i adore all of his work so here are some of my favorite images of hisÂ
In love with this video
I actually cried from happiness watching this. HUMANS! MOVIES! THE INTERNET! DANCING!
One of my favorite things to exist :)
Saved for when I need a smile
A series of plein air paintings done at the Houston Arboretum. Each took around three hours. For the second one in this set, I used a photo I took as ref and worked a tad longer at it.Â
Holbein Gouache on toned Canson paper. Prints here.

I love these
Good inspiration for invoking a mood!
Day 48. Â The weekend just means more time for your Totorobics
WHEEEE. I love Totoro!
My friends and I wrote a bunch of fake want ads and turned it into a newspaper. See the whole paper here.
I am still laughing over âIS EGG REVERSE POTATO?â
Donât panic, itâs Towel Day!
Hilarious
Painted this guy using a photograph from the newspaper as inspiration. Loved pushing the color. I was working on mixed media paper, not watercolor paper so it was interesting to see how differently the paint moved on the paper. I got harder edges than I was expecting, but I still had a fun time!
âLady Tilda and the Dragonâ
Or âMom Knightâ which is what I kept calling it for most of the time I worked on this. This was my story for Valor, a fairy tale anthology I was in last year! Itâs a really great book, and Iâm so glad I got to be a part of it. You can purchase a copy here.
oh my god this made me almost cry for real
Visual storytelling doing a great job. Definitely felt tears-eyed at the plight and terror of the baby dragon.
Shintaro Ohata
Really cool! Great exploration of depth.
My husband gave me a tabletop press for Christmas and this is the first print that I carved. It has been a long time since I've carved a block, but I'm feeling pretty pleased with this! I used a vintage yearbook photo as inspiration. I pulled a bunch of prints and have been experimenting with adding color to the print and I'll show those soon!

Amazing skill and training. The human body is a beautiful thing.
Work in progress! My latest in my mixed media assemblage series using found objects. I'm having a great time!

Such cool geometry! Great color scheme too!
