I'm going over Moon Rising again for a thing and I keep on getting reminded about how horribly manipulative Darkstalker is.

I've talked about this before but I don't think I'll stop until it gets drilled into people's heads how awful Darkstalker is.

Darkstalker tries to isolate her from her friends and says that if she follows him they can make a beautiful future and when Moon tries to ask him anything he says he can't say anything for her own good and lies to her and represses her visions under the guise of protection and tells her to lie to her friends and so much more that it gets to me.

Moon is an isolated teenager who's never had any interactions with other people outside of her mom and has been isolated and then rejected by the people around her and as much as Moon is Darkstalker's only friend, Darkstalker was Moon's first friend. Moon, literally, could not hide anything from him. Darkstalker also puts a lot of weight on Moon, Moon's the only one that can save him, and then later the only one that can stop him from being a monster. Moon has to be around him or else he'll be hurt, or other people will be hurt. Moon is usually the one taking the fall, or being blamed, or the one excusing his behavior, while Darkstalker continues to act horrible and manipulative.

I don't really have a way to end this other than, this is Horrible and Bad and I Wish the books addressed and resolved Moon's arc with Darkstalker.

Moon's character really suffers due to the love triangle and I'm Really Not Over It.

I love being in the WoF fandom, mostly because of the two different people you'll see. You'll see people like: "Oh! I love WoF so much! Tui is such a great writer. I love all of the characters and the world she's built."

Then you have the other ones who've dedicated their life to tearing down canon. They talk about Tui like she personally came into their house and killed their family. They've made AUs and entire shifts in canon because they don't like it and bash on it constantly. Yet, they're too attached to the series in one way or another to just let it go.
