In Magic: the Gathering card terms, Primo has the vibe of a first edition mono black creature from the 90s.
Perpetua, on the other hand, is a mono black creature from one of the latest collections that is a commander box exclusive, has fancy art variants, and also appears as a planeswalker.
Soooo I don't know enough about 3+ color card vibes, why do you think V would be red/black/green? /gen
Primo could definitely be one of those early Orzhov cards, there is some nightmare fuel in them.
Oh, and I think Cardinal era Cardi could indeed be red/black because he's always trying a little too hard to be entertaining while apparently not caring (or pretending not to care) that others die for his spectacle. Devil worship is a plus, I guess.
yesss! i think Cardi is base red, and i think his 2-color is red/black-- he's mainly just trying to have fun and do what feels fulfilling for himself & his life (red), but he's also benefited from some dastardly schemes to get his way, like when papas 1-3 got assassinated (black). i've been wanting to commission custom proxy art for a Cardinal Copia version of Totentanz Swarm Piper!!!!
i think V is red/green/black because Skeletá is supposed to be an album about emotions and experiences, and that is definitely red. i think green is fitting for V because Skeletá has a lot of themes of acceptance and inevitability, the fact that we can't change others, we can't change the past, and there are some things in the future that we can't change either (Guiding Lights, Cenotaph, Excelsis). and i think black is fitting because of Skeletá's themes of persistence/survival (Peacefield), self-love and confidence (Lachryma), indulgence (Umbra), and drastic measures taken in selfishness (Missilia Amori).
as for what V would be like as a card.. he'd definitely be something that plays out of the graveyard, maybe like Coram.

I really like your reasoning for V, but I also think, from the designers perspective, they could go with black/blue for V. One because Lachryma I suppose, but also so he has a matching color with his brother and a contrasting one as well. But that's only if they were launched in the same collection and the designers wanted them to be matchies.

At the end of RHRN we have the infamous balloon scene. Many different interpretations of this, I just saw it as a metaphor for being on a 'come down' - like you're literally coming back down to earth after being at the peak of where you want to be in life.

So then we go to somewhere that isn't the Ministry. It doesn't even look like the renovated ministry from the end of RHRN.
And we meet Judith, with her pin the wrong way round and her cross earrings.

Now the logical person in me says - yeah, Tobias was being stalked and wanted to give certain parasocial fans a reality check maybe - but then again, it was a big change of handling the personas. It felt intentional.
So we see two possibilities - good and bad - for lil Cardi. He can enjoy time with the two closest women in his life and take the helm of a cult created by his mother. OR he can wallow in self-pity and spend his days being out-shone by his 'brother'.
The whole while it feels as if Cardi is being watched - judged - weighed up by the narrator and the employees around him.

We get to Chapter 25 and Judith has a clear picture of him - literally. She's studied him and wants to be reassured that she has the correct reflection of him before sending him on his way. Sort of like how Anubis measures hearts.
And before he leaves 'purgatory', two things almost break the trance: Marika mentioning his 'brother' - forcing Cardi to cough and turn away. And an employee saying 'there is the small matter of the hot air balloon'.
Cardi says it was all in his head, but the guy stood behind Marika doesn't look convinced. Why would it even be bought up if it wasn't real?
And SO I bring to you what I call the Tobias Forge Get Out of Jail Free Card.
If big-To wanted to bring back Cardi, he could simply pick up where we left off: On the floor, after falling out of the balloon., with Cardi's soul returning from purgatory for another shot at fame.
There would still be an argument for a face change. (He likes this right?)
There would still be the opportunity to ret-con. (We know he LOVES that)
And Sister Imperator could actually, really, retire. (Lord knows she's earned it)

Sister Imperator: like or loathe or love or hate her it says a lot that the goofy ass lore of a band managed to create a more complicated female character than a significant amount of more ordinary media, and TF was literally making shit up as he went along

Another thing I want from the Ghovie II is little takes showing why the photoshoot-only costumes didn't make it to the shows. The wings, for example:
Wings tryout 1: Perpetua opens the wings, slaps Rain, Dew and Phantom all at once, dropping Dew to the ground and breaking 2 wingbones in the process. A shower of rhinestones all over.
Wings tryout 2: After being sure no one was nearby, Perpetua opens his wings. A strong wind comes from the front of the stage and drags him away like he's a parasol in a windstorm.

Ok, so last month I had a wonderful time going to a Ghost tribute band concert. It was delightful seeing all the local cosplayers and nuns and a mix of goths and metalheads and families with kids all gathering for the same silly fun satanic show. Also, the nice thing about tribute shows is that your friendly neighborhood Perpetua can just leave the stage and sing and dance in the middle of the crowd once in a while.
Anyway, reminiscing about the tribute show brought up the memory of how I first heard of the band, and how I nearly went to the only show they ever did in my hometown. That will be below the cut because it’s, uh, a long-ish one:
The year was 2013, and it was a bad time for concert goers in my city. Basically, the city’s main venue was closed for renovations, the stadiums only did sport events, and a few bars had closed, so anyone that listened to rock/metal only had some 2 places to go, and these mostly played the same 3 tribute bands or so.
One day I get to my college’s library to see all my friends pretending to study for a test, but actually bored out of their minds because there was basically nothing to do other than college and work in the entire city (well, one was hungover because she did go to an illegal rave in an abandoned factory in the middle of nowhere but that’s another story).
So I ask “Any good concerts coming up these days?” It was kinda like an inside joke at this point, since I already knew the answer. Some dry laugher. Then, one of my friends says:
“Three international metal bands are doing shows here next week, actually.”
“Really?” I then remembered that Metallica was going to make a show in a city not that far from mine. “Oh, Metallica is coming?”
One of them even woke up when he heard this. I’m not even the biggest fan of Metallica, but hey. It would be cool to see them live, especially when it’s been nearly a year since you saw anything live.
My knower-of-concerts friend pulled his frigging 2013 smartphone (it was truly a blessing that it could load a single non-mobile friendly webpage) and tried to find more info. Now, I don’t remember the other bands, but I do remember that one we knew and didn’t care, the other some of us knew and the friend that just woke up went “eeeeeew” and the other we never heard of and it was called Ghost. “Oh, you mean The Ghost of xxxx?” rave friend asked. “No, just Ghost.” “The yyyy Ghosts?” “No, JUST GHOST!”. “Ghost and zzzz?” “JUST GHOST, for fuck’s sake, look at their logo. It looks like it was draw in printer paper with a marker.”
There were some 3 more rounds of this before my rave friend got convinced that yes, there could be a band that was just called Ghost which she had never heard of. I remember myself saying then:
“Ghost. Yeah, that feels right. It feels right that there is a band simply called Ghost.”
“So, how they sound like?” Sleepy friend asks.
Concert-knower friend starts googling Ghost. A mess of results. Search for The Band Ghost. Ghost The Metal Band. Ghost B.C.? They are called this sometimes, others it’s just Ghost. That’s confusing. The first official anything he finds of the band is a photo, and he starts laughing and getting so hyped up.
These fuckers where all dressed up as satanic priests and their lead singer is the fucking satanic anti-pope. Oh. Oh that sound must be heavy.
In fact, me and our just-woken friend got wary it would sound too heavy for us, so concert-friend, already pretty hyped, digs a music video from them to get his face-melting fix. We all huddled around his phone and waited for the video to load with the shitty 2013’s wi-fi.
I don’t really remember which video it was, but I do remember our reactions to it, and thanks to that I’m pretty sure it was Secular Haze:
Imagine four people with no context of what Ghost is huddled around a phone with this video slowly buffering and you get the idea. I have the vague impression this experience slipped into my nightmares even.
Rave friend said she couldn’t give an opinion with just that. Sleepy friend just noped. Concert friend and I actually got kinda got into the mood, despite not knowing wth we just saw. He pulls the details about the show and-
OH NO.
It was the worst venue possible. I mean, it was a bit forced to call it a “venue”. It was a stage set on a cold, flat swamp that was frigid and miserable on the best nights. The sound absolutely sucked, anything that came out of the speakers turning into a muddy mess before fading out into the night. Each one of us had gone to it for a show (or bless, a festival) and had the absolutely worst time.
We all end up deciding on skipping that show, because soon the international concerts would start popping up again, and if those guys were really good they’d probably come back in a few years.

Oh well. I managed to find some fan footage of that show, and the pit was just as muddy and the sound was just as busted as I expected. Still, hearing Secondo say the name of my city gave me a wild mix of emotions.
The thing is, I kinda forgot about Ghost until hearing Dance Macabre on the radio several years later, and then fully latching on them when the Lachryma MV came out last year. I then put 2 + 2 together and holy fuck, skelemask creature, funny weird rat man and psychedelic satan pope are all the same guy. What
I have high hopes they might come here during the next tour (we now have respectable venues available and received a bunch of international acts since), but when will that be? 2028? 2030?? At least we have the tribute bands to save us. Bless you, cursedly tall, off brand Perpetua.
I now realized that technically, in canon... Perpetua can levitate? Like, that's just a thing that he does. To look fancy in pretty princess robe. And we don't talk about the fact that he can just like, do it. At all.
