Blinks confused at the girl. "This is the first time Chii sees a girl with dog ears!" Softly touches the ears.

You gave her a small smile while she touches your ears, it made you excited meeting someone that was exactly like you and that you weren’t the only one in the world. “Hello there it’s nice to meet you my name is Jade and I really like your ears.”

"It's nice to meet Jade! Chii's name is Chii", she introduced herself. She still was confused by the dog ears and stared at them. "Are Jade's ears real?", she asked while squeezing the girl's ears softly, still being curious about them.

"Chii understands!", she said, finally completely understanding the meaning of the word. “Phantom R is cool!”, she complimented him, showing him a small smile. It was always nice to discover new words, especially if they were words from another language. That made it look.. ‘cooler’, as Chii would describe it now.

Feeling — well she didn’t exactly feel it against her ear, she just saw him doing it, made her tilt her head to the side in confusion. “Why did Phantom R do that?”, she asked. Hearing him call her a robot made her gaze at him. She saw movies with those robots in it. And she honestly wasn’t like that! Robots didn’t have feelings, memories and mostly wanted to destroy humanity. And she did have that and didn’t want to destroy humanity.

"Chii isn’t a robot! Chii is a persocom!", she said. Okay, she was actually a Chobi, but they were pretty much the same. she only was more advanced than other persocoms, which were also the cause that she felt real human emotions. "Chii’s ears are to acces Chii’s wires", she explained.

"Fondue is Phantom R’s life-saver?" She seemed confused. How could such a small dog possibly save someone’s life? "How did Fondue do that?"

Phantom R was cool? Yes, he was, but he was as cold, warmed up by his creeping blush. He tried to hide it under his hat’s shade, muttering an embarrassed thank. That Chii was saying that- the living incarnation of innocence if there was on Earth, made him even hotter under the collar. He was not cool as was her friend, Hideki, for he did not save scrapped robots from dumps; he stole sounds and drowned Paris’ nights into a deafening silence. He was a thief, and that was hardly something to glorify, as he was perfectly aware, though his job became a necessary evil in those days.

“A persocom?” That was his turn to not understand and parrot her words. He never heard of persocoms, but to him, that fell into a brand. She was a robot, her words were betraying: she had to be activated by that Hideki guy to function and had connective wires hidden in her ears that was the only giveaway of her true nature, and even then, could probably be mistaken for some fashion accessory. Anyway, it was cool - as in, amazing- to see such a display of technology… And a bit frightening. “But what is a persocom?” So, all her emotions and smiles, were they the result of an internal program or of her own will? Thinking that much made his brain hurt.

How did that small, cowardly mongrel dog managed to save him? Well, it was not like he could tell her how he came to get him out of trouble with one of his first heists. He did not hide his identity as the sound thief, but it was pretty obvious she, as most tourists, never heard of him; so it was pointless to bring that point. It would complicate their growing relationship, and though it was hard to avoid that name in the local press, he would soon see if she was willing to hang out again with a criminal. It would be on her own accord. So he chose the second answer- the complicated one. “I adopted him soon after Papa… After my father left me… When he did, I was left all on my own, I had debts and school to pay… I don’t know if I could have survived without Fondue’s support.” The dog did no comment, following his tail’s trail in the hot dust. Public manifestations of affection were not tolerated when the master wore the dark suit, he knew. “Yes, that was Phantom R’s little sob story,” he finally chuckled.

The persocom didn't notice the young man's blush that was now lightly coloring his cheeks. She couldn't see it, or not clearly, thanks to the hat's shade. And she was also distracted by all the tourists in front of the tower. They all seemed to stand in a certain pose in front of the camera with the tower on the background. She had no clue why they did such a strange thing, thinking it was just absurd.

She had no idea who Phantom R really was, thinking that was actually truly his name. She was way too naive to think that he was lying about his name, to think why he was dressed so formal, et cetera. And besides; he looked trustable, someone who wouldn't lie to anyone that fast.

Hearing him repeating her made her nod her head once, smiling lightly. "Yes, persocom!", she confirmed, thinking she was clear enough. Persocoms were quite popular in Tokyo. Everyone wanted one, either for just doing tasks, their presence or just for.. well, different kind of things. They were just everywhere in Tokyo and almost everybody had one, either a pocket-sized one or one as tall as a human. "A persocom is a computer that can do all the things someone wants. We can go on the internet, make phone calls, receive emails, and more", she explained.

However, hearing his story made Chii look lightly sad, feeling sorry for him."Poor Phantom R..", she said. Gazing at him for a while, Chii decided she would cheer him up! Although it was probably too late, she still felt sorry for him. So, out of nowhere, she took a few steps closer before wrapping her arms around him and hugging him softly. "Chii's glad that Fondue saved Phantom R. Chii thinks Phantom R deserved a better life than that.. but then maybe Phantom R wouldn't have met Fondue.." Woops, looks like she had a hard time to figure this out. "But, Chii's still glad that Phantom R is alright now!"

Honestly, Chii didn’t even think about calling the police. She didn’t want to cause any trouble, but she also didn’t want to make Hideki worried. However, hearing Minako’s request made Chii look happily. Nodding her head once, she smiled. “Chii would love to stay at Minako’s place! Thank you.”

Staring at Minako, she decided that if she was going to stay at her house, that she had to do something in return, or atleast help her with getting some money. “Chii wants to do something for Minako in return.” She looked motivated to help her, even to work if needed. But she wasn’t planning to stay somewhere without doing something in return.

Chii perked up at the offer, which Minako was grateful for. She was such a cute character to be sad for any reason. Her small apartment wasn’t much to brag about but could easily house two people comfortably. 

"Well, you did buy all those groceries. I feel sorry for Hideki, but we don’t want those items to go to waste do we? It’s been a while since I’ve eaten anything home cooked, anyway." She smiled, and took the lead in walking them down the many streets and alleyways towards the Residential district.

During that time,  she had set Pochi to speak human language, and boy did she like to chatter. She complained about being stuffed under a hat all the time, how she had several programs that needed updating and even that if she was allowed to, she’d walk on the ground just fine.

"Chii.." When Minako mentioned Hideki, she did seem down for a bit. He was probably worried about her. It was so horrible of her; to get kidnapped by those twins to this island, thinking she could prevent it somehow, although she did make a new friend here. "Chii thinks that's a good idea", she said after a while, gazing up at Minako with a tiny smile.

Noticing Minako started walking, Chii soon followed her. On their way to Minako's house, she looked amazed around. It looked so different here, it was so strange. Hearing that Pochi actually started talking, made Chii stare at her. So she really was able to talk! It sounded fun to hear, although she only complained about things. But still, it was funny to hear a ferret talk.

"Chii's sorry if she causes problems for Minako with all this", she apologized out of nowhere. She thought she had to apologize, since this all was so unexpected.

Seeing the ferret again made her eyes glimmer again. “Pochi! Can Chii hear Pochi talk now?”, she asked. She really wanted to hear Pochi talk, no matter if they were talking about something really serious right now, she wanted to hear it talk.

"Chii is?", she asked. Even though Minako said that, she had no clue how far exactly. Okay, she knew she was on an island, but how far away from Tokyo was it exactly? Maybe it was close, maybe it was far. “So bad people brought Chii here? Why did they bring Chii here?” She asked, as if Minako knew why.

Staring at her, she looked down. “Chii doesn’t. Does Minako know where Chii can stay?”

She really felt sorry for the persocom. It’s not like any case of kidnapping was good. In normal cases, one would call the police. However, Midorijima police were not the most trustworthy law enforcement, which was odd, because policemen were usually the ones who were associated with it. If Minako called the police on something like this, they’d either dismiss it as a dysfunctional All Mate, or put it in their file of to-do cases and not contact again more months, or just write her off as a prank caller.

Honestly, Chii didn't even think about calling the police. She didn't want to cause any trouble, but she also didn't want to make Hideki worried. However, hearing Minako's request made Chii look happily. Nodding her head once, she smiled. "Chii would love to stay at Minako's place! Thank you."

"Chii thinks it’ll be safer if Chii and Phantom R went away from here, before it collapses!", she said and tugged at his hand, somehow getting scared of the tall, iron tower.

However, hearing his explanation, Chii would stare at him. “So ‘cool’ means ‘amazing’.. but also ‘cold’?”, she asked, wanting to be sure she understood it. "So Chii can say that someone is ‘cool’?" Tilting her head, she looked curious at him.

However, when he asked what she meant by it, she looked away for a few seconds before looking at him again. “Chii means what she said; Hideki found Chii laying on top of a pile of trash. Hideki carried Chii home and activated Chii. Hideki saved Chii”, she explained. She didn’t knew the details exactly herself, but that were the main and important things she knew.

Chii wanted to ask if it was strange that she was found in a garbage dump, but didn’t. Ofcourse it was, dumb Chii. Her previous owners probably didn’t want her, or thought she was annoying. She had no clue, as she had no memory about them. But it didn’t matter; she had Hideki now. Focusing her concentration on Phantom R again, she looked curious at him. "Does Phantom R also owes his life to someone like Chii?", she asked, thinking it was rather rude of her to talk only about herself.

As she tugged his hand away- with an unexpectedly strong grip, his shoulders had to follow her movement or they would probably have collapsed; but his feet stayed set on the ground as he laughed again, until she processed that information. Again, one of those words that was passed down in French he was so used to, he forgot himself the double-meaning that confused them both. Plus, wouldn’t it be a problem if the iron tower threatened to melt under the sun of each Parisian afternoon? “Well, yes, you can say that… For example, I said that Hideki sounds like an amazing guy, but I can say: He sounds like a cool guy! That’s the same.” That was perhaps over-explaining for such a short word.

Well, if she did not know the details herself, he won’t be helping, for what she said still made no sense to him. Though one of the words tilted in his head. He ‘activated’ her? And his short-span memory started putting its clocks in work. She also mentioned how she was not able to get a stiff neck- a detail, but he did not know of some condition that prevented that stretch following one’s entire backbone. It concurred, but… He had seen some of those a few days before at an exhibition with another ‘friend’, though he had a loose definition for that word, for he just met him, yet they were not as perfected as Chii… But that explained one thing that he dismissed as a cosmetic feature and, without a second thought, he gave a light snap to one of her mechanical ears. “You mean you’re a robot? That’s what those are for?” Yes, saying it out loud did not make it sound less amazing, or cool, or crazy. He would have never told she was some sort of machine by looks alone, that’s for sure!

“Me? I… In a way, I think Fondue was my life-saver.” When hearing his name, the cheesehund trotted back at them, his tail wagging happily in the dust. His life may have had turned differently if it was not for that cowardly dog he called, with no irony whatsoever, his best friend. Though it was more subtle than, well, being found out in a garbage dump in some Tokyoite back alley.

A small smile curled upon her lips as he said that about Hideki. "Hideki is amazing! Hideki found Chii in a garbage dump and decided to take care of Chii!", she explained, accidentally telling her life story in one simple sentence. But she really was thankful for him, saving her. Although it mostly was because he wanted a persocom really bad.

"Chii..", she murmured softly as she stared at the metallic tower in front of her. A soft giggle escaped her lips as he said that, causing her to look at him. "Chii knows that! But Chii is just excited to see such a tall tower", she said before returning her gaze to the iron tower. Tilting her head slowly, she started looking at the top of the Eiffel Tower., but soon looked normal again.

"Cool?", she asked, confused by it. How did he know it was cool, and how would that even be possible? It was pretty warm that day, so it wouldn’t be possible if that tower was cool. She clearly misunderstood the meaning of that, causing her to panic a bit. "Won’t the tower melt in this warmth? It’s supposed to stay cool..", she said, a bit sad when imagining that the tower could melt.

"Don’t worry, Chii isn’t able to get a stiff neck", she said. Although she had human emotions and did whatever she wanted, she wasn’t able to feel such a thing as a ‘stiff neck’, ‘a headache’ or anything like that. The only thing she could feel, is sleepy when she doesn’t have any energy left.

There were some things weird he could gloss over, for they applied to him. He never thought much about his ability to see and steal the colors of all sounds, until someone pointed it out and he had to go through the painful exercise of explaining what was nature to him, as much as the rising sun or the merry-go-round of the planet. There were some things weird he was resilient about being explained to him. As he was of a curious nature- one had to with his peculiar occupation! He hated to have something escaping his grasp, and it haunted the phantom for long; but once it was explained, it became clear it was the same sort of ‘hidden normality’ he longed for himself. And then, there was this. That moment that sounded so absurd his brain just shut off with a breathed ‘what’ escaping his lips. A girl found in a garbage dump?! He got nothing here, and for a bit, he did not compute- that was one case to say it! That she talked to him again. Oh, he had the beginning of a theory, but that was stretching meanings of words to ends his nineteen-years-old mind was not supposed to think again. Just white noise.

“Ah? Er…” What did she say? Something about the tower melting— ah, yes, she misinterpreted his word. That bit caused him to chuckle lightly, not in a way to make fun of her, but because it sounded so absurd, before clarifying: “No, the tower can’t melt. Well, it does look a bit bent over…” Fondue chose that moment to bark at him. The dog could not understand humor, of course, but he recognized that tone of voice that was a white lie, and could not tolerate him to lie to such a gentle hand. Phantom R just laughed of a deeper laugh. “Just kidding. It was ‘cool’, as in, ‘amazing’.

And you, what did you mean by ‘found in a garbage dump’?” Great bomb-dropping there, Phantom. Though she had not sounded phased by her own memory- if he had to tell someone he was literal garbage, he would be a bit more reserved, he imagined. Like he was right now: there was still his smile on his face, but more of a polite one that barely affected his features.

Noticing the carmine-haired man, Chii stared at him. "Chii never saw such a hair color before..", she whispered to herself. "Chii thinks you have pretty hair!", she said to the man, complimenting a random stranger she just passed on the street.

Blinks surprised and tilts head to the side. "Chii’s adorable? Chii thinks you’re adorable too!"
