My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.

What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"

"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.

I hope this is a universal cat owner experience. Every single night he begs me to turn the sun back on so he can watch birds on the balcony. I tell him no, I cannot do that.

But I can turn lights on and off in the house and he's fairly certain I'm just not applying myself properly here.

omg I finally took the time to read through your whole story, this is so peak ^^ I always saw the chicken guards and I'd like your art but I was so confused lmao xDD no but this is amazing. and it's all professional looking with your tumblr url lol.

i've been playing around with my artstyle and my art's not good. what do you use to draw? i know i need an iPad (i have a screenless tablet currently), but what's your general process? your comics are simple yet detailed, and i noticed each panel is its own image rather than a long/big image with multiple panels. and you don't use a ton of shading, it's mostly flats (i'm always worried about detail loll). does that make drawing easier?

thank you so much! You definitely do not need an iPad, I have a decent scanner so I just draw on paper, scan it, and cleanup and color in photoshop CS2. I got it when adobe was offering their old programs for free for a while. I'm sure there are better coloring programs but it's what I'm used to. That's the thing about art, there is never one "right" way to do it! Find a system that works for you (and your budget) and that's all that matters.

and I don't do shading because I'm bad at it. 😓 I probably should study and improve, but I've just never gotten the hang of it. So I guess the answer is for me, yes, it makes drawing easier.

for reference, this is what a page of my comic looks like before I scan it. I use blue pencil lead because it's a bit easier to erase the lines in photoshop that way.
