But guys, think about super close platonic relationships
Platonic reassuring shoulder/arm/hand grabbing
Platonic tight, meaningful hugs
Platonic late-night deep conversations that end in at least one person holding back tears or sobbing
Platonic sleeping in the same bed
Platonic forehead touches
Platonic staring into each other’s eyes like the other person is the world
Platonic CUDDLES
SUPER CLOSE PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS
BEFORE AND AFTER

Colours of Potter 1/50 ↳ Sonam Kapoor as Rowena Ravenclaw
“Whatever the history books tell you, don’t listen to them. These wizards and witches, who believe themselves to be so progressive? They learned from their white counterparts. (Or perhaps it was the other way around.) Racism has always been present in the Wizarding World. It is just the privilege of the white that they don’t have to see it. We don’t have that privilege.
My initial research has revealed little of where this discrimination came from. Our people have been scrubbed from many of the records. Wizards travel much more than muggles do, but they think anyone they meet with skin darker than their own is “savage” and “uneducated”. They think their magic is better than anyone else’s.
They insist their Latin and Anglo Saxon spells are better than the Sanskrit spells that I know. They don’t understand that wands were made in Egypt long before white people had their hands on them. Two-way mirrors, flying carpets, astrology. All these things come from the lands these white people label as “backward”. They are so close-minded.
My father brought me to this country as a child. I was not even five years old. He had wanderlust after my mother had died and a thirst for knowledge. He thought there was much to learn from this small country. And there is! I do love it here. I love the harsh landscape, the mist that descends on the glens, the waves crashing on the rocks at the coast. As much as I long for India, I have fallen in love with this tiny place where my father brought me. This is why I suggested we build the castle near here.
I helped build this school to open young wizards’ and witches’ minds. No child is born racist. That’s what they say. I do believe that most of the time. I want to squash prejudice before it has the chance to take hold in their impressionable minds. I want to broaden their horizons. I want them to explore what they can do, and test and question what they think they know! They shouldn’t just be taught spells from their parents’ lap.
We have taken on such a huge task. These children are in our hands so we spent so long designing the school. It is our pride and joy. I spent hours designing the ever-changing floor plan, the secret passageways and the moving staircases. It inspires our students to be creative too. They can not only explore the castle here, but explore themselves.
There are two things that press constantly against my mind. One is the future of the school. After we are gone, will the castle fall to ruins? It is my dream for the legacy to last forever: generations of children being educated here. Finding a home, as Godric, Helga, Salazar and I all found. The second, which is much more important, is Salazar’s view on those from muggle families. The others and I are unsettled by him. I can feel the cracks forming in our relationship but I simply cannot let this go. I will not tolerate this kind of discrimination in the heart of the school. Who knows what it will lead to?
God knows what discrimination has led to in the past. I reverently hope that history will not repeat itself – but humans… we never seem to learn.”

sarah's story characters -- 9/? -- prentiss star -- lucille academy
+ daring, honourable, practical - defiant, reckless, proud
Prentiss had hardly ever felt fear in his life. He prided himself on being confident and sure of himself, always knowing what to do, and even if he didn't he went in anyway. If the others were missing that left him with no one to turn to, no one to complete him. Without his friends he wasn't himself, he knew that now, but he had to keep going. For them. It was always for them.
there is a huge difference between genuinely liking someone and liking the attention they give you and it took me a long time to realise that

If you’re mad at her, you don’t understand it. White people are trying to remove themselves from all people of color. Let me show you why this is true. You’ve heard of Asian-americans or African Americans or Mexican Americans. But how about a European American? Have you ever heard someone say they’re Canadian American? or European American? Probably not. White people can just call themselves American, even if their ancestry has not been in America for long. If your great-grandparents moved because of the potato famine, you don’t call yourselves Irish American, you have lived your entire life in the United States, you call yourself an American. But now, take someone whose ancestry is linked to some of the first slaves in the colonies, and they still call themselves African-American. Doesn’t matter if they’ve never stepped foot on the continent and share no cultural link, other than pigment, with any society in Africa, they still have to identify with African.
What’s most infuriating is that even people who are the ultimate Americans: Native Americans. They were in the Americas while ass backwards Europe was accusing (and burning) women of being witches. THEY, of all people, shouldn’t have to specify their identity as an American, but NO they have to be labeled with something else.
Raven Symone is an absolute star. She has my total respect for standing up like this, and I hope her so much happiness with her girlfriend. I wish she was still on television, she taught me so much , even if it was all from a disney show
Most people say that it’s ridiculous to say that the Harry Potter books saved lives, but read this and you’ll change your perspective. Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter, once wrote to J.K. Rowling begging for at least a tiny role in one of the films. At the time she was young and was dying due to her anorexia. She mentioned it to J.K. and begged to have one part in the film before it was too late. J.K. Rowling responded with a deal: she’d give her a part if she got better. Evanna got better and never returned to her anorexia.
Reblog every time because 1. It’s fucking awesome. 2. She’s fucking gorgeous. and 3. Books save lives.
I went to drama classes with her when I was younger and she is amazing, such an inspiration.

WIZARDING IDIOMS
i just stumbled on this and i thought it’s worth sharing.
"Wizarding idioms are expressions that are unique to wizarding culture. However, many of them seem to have analogous Muggle idioms, from which they may have been derived."
"Cat among the pixies" - play on “cat among the pigeons,” which is also the name of a Hercule Poirot novel by Agatha Cristie, meaning to do something to cause a lot of people bother or worry. Specifically, Arabella Figg’s description of Mundungus Fletcher.
"Fell off the back of a broom" - synonymous with “fell off the back of a lorry/truck,” meaning stolen merchandise. Mundungus Fletcher leaves his shift of watching over Harry Potter to see to such items, in 1995.

Name: Charlotte Lowe
Birthday: 31st July
Positive traits: Passionate, creative, helpful
Negative traits: Judgmental, creepy, manipulative
Charlotte has always been obsessed with things like the occult and is very superstitious. Her father died when she was young and she believes her mother is the reason for it, so she always sets out to prove it in the most interesting ways. She doesn't have many friends because of her interests and the way she tends to throw her superstitious beliefs onto others, but she is always willing to help anyone in need, and she is an excellent storyteller. She can come up with stories that blow her teachers' minds, though many of them involve conspiracy theories and the like.

Oh god guys. JK Rowling is a genius, and so is this person.
the thing I love about this fandom is that there are 7 books and 8 movies to observe. so every once in a while some blessed soul finds a piece of information that makes all the magic resurface again
Mind. Blown.
Oh Lord…it’s a metaphor too. It’s symbolic of Neville holding on to his past, the horrors of what happened to his parents, of being a passive vessel for that atrocity. As if the terrible thing kept happening and would never stop happening.
When he moves forward and becomes part of his own story instead of the story of his past, his strength surges.
TEAM NEVILLE FOR LIFE
It also shows that if you give a kid the wrong tool, he may be a genius but he’s never going to be able to build something with it.
