alright folks. so this goes for all my tolki.en muses but. . .i'm not sure if i will come back here. interactions had been so scarse, i been blocked left and right by people i don't know because they simply believe someone over my own writing or voice and i'm just. . .tired. i been loving the world of tolkien and specially rings of power but i been feeling as if i should he ashamed for enjoying the fanfic of it all and even entertaining au's and theories. so. . .yeah. you win folks. i'm not deleting but i am not coming back until i feel safe.

It was moments like this which Celebrian treasured most of all. Quiet and content, with only Elrond for company. He held the world so firmly upon his shoulders that often she marveled that he did not bend, but here she hoped to ease him just a little.

Humming softly to some tune she made up, fingers dancing through his curls. . . Such a simple gesture, but it brought her such joy. He could relax, let his weight rest somwhere else for a moment, and she could enjoy the intimacy of his trust in her. It was a precious gift which never failed to make her heart flutter, as did his eyes as they gazed upon her, along with his smiles and his words.

" Good, I try quite hard you know. " she said softly with a fond chuckle, leaning low and wrapping a curl around her finger. " That is the goal. After all what can one give the elf who willingly bears the weight of the world upon his lovely shoulders, if not moments of peace. " she lifted their joined hands to kiss his knuckles and happily placed them back upon his chest.

And yet her heart refused to settle, and her smile did not fade as she traced his forehead and his brow with the lightest of touches. " and as for your shadows, I am happy to be of service. You've banished mine you know, for if i were to compare us, I think you shine much brighter. Sunlight in summer, soft breeze through the trees, willows by the river that sort of thing. " she whispered the words like an artist with a brush, hoping to paint an accurate portrait of him for his own eyes to see. " But perhaps I am Tilion? For shadows are greatest in the night, and you do traverse quite a lot of night."

She tapped his nose and resumed playing with his hair, watching his curls bounce in fascination. " One thing I do know. . . Is that I love these moments, and sometimes I wish we could keep them forever."

"It is a privilege to have such weight upon me. I do it with delight." Elrond said with a smile gracing upon the curve of his lips. He does keep a lot in his books and in his mind, troubles beyond the years they have, a pit upon his stomach that tells him that his intuition is not wrong. He wants elf-kind to be safe and to be saved, both difficult tasks in their times. "You speak of me as if I was poetry. I can assure you, I am not. But less cannot be said about you." He could make songs out of her beauty, one that she holds not just in her heart but as the basis of her entire being. Celebrian was radiant, more so because of her kind and compassionate heart. He had been blessed to be allowed to have her heart.

"Mine are those shared with Men. For I will always be Peredhel for many. But I do think that heart must be treasured. I have faith in some of them." They do falter. "After all, Elros created an entire civilization." Numenor was the lasting memory of his brother's realm. He chose mortality and a long happy life and then, to never reunite in the Valar and Elrond had been content knowing he had died happy and in a place he made his home. He had feared once that he could never have such a thing but he was proven wrong.

"Now that would be quite a shock, then again Tillion is a cat and you do seem to enjoy playing with my hair." Which only grows longer with the years. He had stopped cutting it, and just allowing it to grow naturally as years made him wiser and he began to resemble more of his elf-kin. "We shall make the most of them but also, I do not enjoy neglecting you. So perhaps we should arrange once a week, a day for just us." The two of them, in a quiet safety and peace. He had never felt it until those moments.

Margaery was always taught the the past is something worthy of its remembrance and that only by honoring what came before can they bring about a brighter future. A history forgotten is a history repeated. Yet it feels more and more like her fellow Númenóreans have forgotten where they came from and why they live upon their island. It was a gift from the Valar, the very ones whose names are now mocked openly by those who begrudge anything tied to elvenkind. What fools they are. Do they not see it in the buildings around them, in the shapes of the glassworks, the very stones beneath their feet? It is all tied to this past, this former kinship between elf and man, yet they play ignorant to it all for the sake of spite.

ㅤㅤㅤ❝ If only it was mere forgetfulness to cause them to behave in such a way. ❞ No, it is something deeper. An unseen hand shifting the tide, a puppeteer who tugs the strings of the people as he sees fit, though perhaps that invisible force has made himself more known as of late. Too many overt moves for Pharazon to disguise from an attentive eye such as hers. ❝ Unfortunately, I've discovered as of late that there are those among us who stoke this unrest on purpose to suit their own political appetites. To have ambition is one thing, but to sabotage one's own people for power's sake . . . I cannot fathom the selfishness required to do so. ❞ How unfortunate it is indeed that the brother of the great King Elros must arrive only to see everything he built turned to this, where the descendants of those who once treated faithfully with the elves would now scorn and shun them. A bright smile shines upon Margaery's face regardless, a nod of courtesy given to acknowledge his respect.

He does not speak of the nature of Men and how as a race, they seem to tend to disturb the peace more than aid to help it. Elrond does not speak ill of Numenor for he sees at every corner, influences of his brother's hand. This is a city and a realm his brother built, the reason he chose to remain mortal and grow. Elrond does not understand plenty, but he can see why he had decided to live and die among the folk and see such civilization born from it. Though, with how she is speaking of them now, he fears Numenor was not the dream it once was. Eyes stare at the painting hanging above the library walls, his brother on one side and him on the other, twins, separated by fate and destiny. Both half-elves given a choice not many are given in those days. Elrond turns and smiles, poised as that of many elves, although he had been told his eyes are kinder and perhaps, he believes they are those of his brother, and what remains of the mortal side he had inside.

"It is does no one well to arrive with hostility. I am not here as a herald of bad news or concern, but simply to continue what Lady Galadriel had started." Continued partnership between the elves and the men of Numenor could rise a new kind of world before their eyes. "I believe my brother might had brought some texts here when he left. I would require those text to build my new home. A sanctuary for elves for we had been viciously attacked, Eregion falling around us."

A deep sorrow on his voice as he recalls the fall of the city, the dust until under his nails and a voice that claims it had been his fault for being weak. But he breathes and pays attention as she speaks in his tongue and a frown appears on the Elf, eyes looking around to see if they are seen or heard. "Is there reason to believe he is doing this at his own volition or perhaps. . .is he being influenced?" Sauron had been here once under a disguise, nothing could stop him from returning and taking down another city in his path.

Even now she can remember those sunlit days spent at his side, the light that shined in his eyes every time he spoke of histories and legends, how his kisses had tasted of hope and wonder. All the promises they made, the way he made her life feel as if they, too, could have their own place in those great stories one day. Life had felt so certain then. Her future had felt so secure, so comforting to know that he would be at her side, no matter what came.

ㅤㅤㅤAnd then she left. There is no one to blame but herself. He may be understanding, more forgiving than she feels she deserves, but it is a great pain nonetheless to carry the ghost of what could have been. She gave herself to a fate greater than herself, but it cost Daenerys her world. Worse still is knowing that her leaving hurt him, too. That she gave him not even an answer of why as flimsy comfort. ❝ You give me too much grace. More than I can give myself. ❞ His kindness, though she feels is undeserved, is not a surprise. Her Elrond was always kind, a brighter spirit than any star. That is what she has missed most about him in a world so cruel. ❝ I'm sorry, Elrond. I am sorry I left you without any solace, nor even an explanation. I am sorry I did not give you the chance to choose, that all I left you with were questions. ❞

ㅤㅤㅤPassing years should have been enough time to mourn what was lost, yet it all feels fresh again now that she is in his presence once more. There is a gripping, aching feeling within her chest; a homesickness stronger than she has ever known. If she closes her eyes, the memories become more vivid. She can still remember the feel of grassy meadows embracing her, the comfort of his voice, the smell of the books in the library. Perhaps this could have been her home, too. But it is not, and that is her own doing. She cannot leave as she did and then dare think she could have any place here. His words sound like praise, beyond mere acknowledgement of who she has become, and something fractures in her tempered gaze to hear him speak fondly of her still, to feel his hand take her own and make her heart flutter within her chest as he always has.

ㅤㅤㅤ❝ You call me stronger, wiser, but you do not truly know how I have changed. The things I have had to do in our time apart. You might abhor what I have become in your absence. ❞ Brows lift in an anguished, conflicted tenderness, her eyes returning to rest upon Elrond's features. His words are more than what she had longed for, yet she feels unworthy of them all the same. Her voice quietens, a certain desperation in how she asks, ❝ Beyond all that has changed, when you look at me, do you still see the one that you had once loved? ❞

ㅤㅤㅤDespite her own conflict, despite how unworthy she feels of it, her trembling hand closes over his own with a soft, welcoming squeeze, once again made steady by his reassurance. He deserves to hear it. She did not come all this way only to flee. ❝ I came to do what I should have done years ago. ❞ Violet eyes drift down to look upon their joined hands, a thumb tracing over the familiar lines of his wrist. When they lift again, they meet his gaze with a mournful smile. ❝ I came to ask you to come with me. But I'm afraid I am too late. ❞

Elrond stood in the pale light of Rivendell’s dusk, listening as Daenerys spoke. Her words fell like raindrops, each one soft yet weighted, pooling into an unspoken storm between them. He did not interrupt, though his keen eyes lingered on her face. She spoke of regret, of choices made, of wounds she believed she had inflicted. But Elrond, ever the scholar of hearts as much as histories, saw beyond her confession. He saw the yearning, the guilt, and the fragile hope woven into the silken strands of her voice.

When she faltered, asking if he still saw in her the woman he had once loved, he exhaled softly, his gaze dropping to their joined hands. Her touch was tentative, but Elrond’s heart, bound by the ages yet untouched by bitterness, knew no room for anger against her. “Daenerys,” he said, his voice steady and low, carrying the weight of centuries of understanding. “You speak as though I have spent these years nurturing resentment, as though your leaving fractured something irreparable. But love is not so fragile.” His fingers curled gently around hers, the strength of his grasp a quiet assurance. “Yes, there was pain in your departure, and yes, I questioned what might have been. But even in your absence, I did not curse your name, nor the choices you made.”

He paused, his gaze lifting to meet hers, luminous as the stars above them. “The paths we walk are seldom without sacrifice. Yours demanded much of you, as mine has demanded much of me. But do you think, even for a moment, that I would cast aside the memory of who you were, or who you are, for what you have done? You are still the woman who once shared with me those sunlit days, who dreamed of stories we might write together.”

Her violet eyes glistened, and he felt the tremor in her hand as she spoke of her fears—that he might abhor what she had become, that she had come too late. A soft smile touched his lips, bittersweet yet warm. “I will not pretend the years have left us unchanged. But do not mistake change for ruin. When I look at you, I see not only the woman I loved, but also the woman who stands before me now—stronger, though the strength has cost her; wiser, though wisdom has been bitterly earned. You ask if I still see you, and my answer is this: I see all of you.”

He released a quiet breath, his hand shifting to clasp hers fully, as though anchoring her in that moment. “You have not lost me, Daenerys. Nor have you forfeited the right to ask what you now ask of me. But elves are in danger as we speak. And Imladris stands as a safe haven for those who are lost. It even lead you to me.” The path hidden for many and cloaked by tmagic of the Rings, and yet, it had seen her heart and revealed itself willingly. "I cannot leave my people. But I do not wish to be parted from you again."

Elrond stood at the edge of the balcony, the silver light of the moon casting his face in a pallid glow. Below, the waves of Lindon’s western shores whispered a ceaseless hymn, their rhythm soothing yet distant, like the memories that clung to his weary heart. The weight had grown heavy upon his shoulders, though he bore it as gracefully as any might expect of him.

But even the most resilient of elves had their limits. Elrond did not turn at once. Instead, he allowed the words to settle in the space between them, like leaves on still water. His hands, clasped behind his back, tightened fractionally as he gazed into the horizon where the sea kissed the stars.

“Your offer is gracious,” he began, his voice steady but tinged with a quiet melancholy, “yet it is not a burden that can be so easily divided. Some weights, even those shared, do not lessen.” He turned then, meeting Gil-galad’s eyes. The man had always been a kind soul he often sought for wisdom. “You see too much, my king. And yet, there are things even your wisdom cannot mend.”
