“Of course! We were never really out of touch. But having her back in town feels right. It’s hard being separated. Nobody knows me better, you know?”
honesty hour - who do you think is a cutie?
“Anon, I think you’re cute for even asking the question.” The Pepper winked in a strangely condescending way.
❛ what, you're still alive? ❜ from curly da woim
“I could say the same about you,” Peter said, cocking a brow. “I thought you got squished in the slammer. Must have been a nasty rumor. And I guess I couldn’t be bothered to obsess over it. Sorry.”
"I'd say ya can't believe everyt'ing ya hear. But I get, Mr. Obsession. I see ya." Curly paused. "Whatcha been up to anywho?"
“Scouting. Doing some research. Trying to get the local creeps to care over these petty little celebrities. What about you? What’s been your deal since you got out?”
"Eh, you know. Same old, same old. Mostly just followin' Appley around. Your life seems like ya got more goin' on."
"Yeah, I noticed you were still tailin' her. Guess I'm glad things are still good between ya. I figured you'd blame her for getting you stuck in jail."
"I ain't got the heart to blame the old gal for anything, ya know?"
"Metaphorically or... literally? I mean, I don't... know anything about worm biology."

"90 years of jailtime for the infamous Gourd Brothers" (From Pepperazzi, to Jimmy)
"Well, uh, that certainly can't be me. I don't have a brother."
"They told me you'd deny him three times by the rooster's crow," Pepperazzi said, shaking his head solemnly. "Or wait. Was that a different guy with a J name? Sorry, I've been kind of focused on a specific redheaded rhubarb lately. Now that my sis is back in town, I'm finally free to investigate and report on other Vegetables, but..." he sighed. "It's so hard to move on. Jimothy, you've had a lot of different jobs, right? How do you do it?"
Jimmy blinks slowly. So slowly it's with his right eye first and then his second. He does catch up though, despite his many, many questions. "Hugh. Yeah. Sure. I guess I just... show up? To the jobs?"
“And what? Just forget about the last one? Move on? Jimberly, have you never felt the fixation of Obsession?”
"I hardly know the meaning of the word." He spoke earnestly.
“Obsession, or fixation? Ah. Never mind. It’s like… say you get a craving for pizza. And it’s good pizza. Cheesy, gooey. Best pizza you’ve ever had. And then one day… the store that sold it, it’s gone. And you can never have it again. You look and you look, and try other pizza shops and frozen pizza and making your own… you NEED to find this pizza again. You need it or you’ll die, or so you feel. That is obsession. It’s all you can think of. It’s there in your dreams. It consumes you.”
Jimmy instantly starts drooling. "Where can I get this pizza?!" He asked, completely missing the point.
“That, my friend, is the dilemma. Only YOU know what that pizza should taste like to you. Nobody can help you on that journey.” He paused, considering options. “How about we order a few different ones and try to figure that out?”
"yes, that’s because SOMEBODY murdered Mom Asparagus. sure she came back, but at what COST" (Pick your Ryan muse)
"Ya know, I hoid about all dis from da apple. Your sista, if memory soives me correctly." Curly pondered. "So dis mom character... she causing all sorts of trouble?"
"I tried to find that out. No idea if she's the cause or just a victim. Anyway, eventually when I realized Petunia was here, that's when I started reporting on her back to my sis, and I kinda... forgot. To follow up. I thought you'd be interested in helping me catch up. Do a little recon. What do you say?"
"Wait, what's da deal with Petunia?" Curly was suddenly very invested, thinking as he nodded his little worn head. "What da hell! Yeah, I can do some recon. Ya know, recon style."
“Sis and her had a little history is all. Don’t worry about it. It’s not my job anymore to follow up on her. Anyway, I appreciate it. Who do you think we oughta start with?”
"I gotta be honest, I don't know too many folk's 'round here. Though, dat lil' blueberry rubs me da wrong way."
“Oh, yeah. That French Blueberry that everyone kinda plays dumb about and pretends couldn’t be related to that other French Blueberry that he calls Maman and it’s all coincidence? Yeah. Suspicious kid. Not sure what he’d know about Mom Asparagus though.”

'people've been disappearing as well; it's the strangest thing.' (From Peter Pepperazzi/Obsession)
"And it's not you, not me, not Curly..." she gasps, offended "Obsession, someone's moving in on our turf. We have to find who they are, and find their weakness."
"There's other villains. I know that Fib guy never came back. Maybe he's really dead. Or maybe he faked his death. Supposedly that Weed's reformed now, but... I don't trust her. And Scooter... well, ACAB, y'know? Not to mention the normies. Anyone could be hiding a secret like that. Like a Banker. Or a Dad. They seem so dull. So normal. And yet..."
Had he a chin and fingers, he would have been drumming his fingers on his chin thoughtfully. "Temptation, sister, I'm delighted to say we have a lot of suspects to interrogate. That means a lot of weaknesses for you to exploit."
"Fibs, Rumors, all lead to Temptation down the line." She smiles. "The normies might be worth exploring, did you ever find out anything particularly pertinent pertaining to Petunia?"
“Excellent alliteration, sis. Unfortunately, the Rhubarb was a hard case to crack. I know the local Banker maybe wanted to make a rug out of her hair. I know she’s in a committed relationship. And I know she committed some crimes, possibly murder, with the tiny asparagus child. Nothing that indicates any real history of concern. Just normal things around this town.”
"Is that committed relationship with the banker looking to make a hair rug? If not, we may have a lead with that banker."
“No, it’s with a cucumber. It is strange that he suddenly became more… noticeable in this town, around that time. Like he’s been here for some time, but then was suddenly making himself known.”

"Look at the tomato. He’s so sad. Pobre tomato." - Your big sis xoxo
Peter grinned. It felt good to have his sister back, finally. To talk shit with someone who didn't make him out to be some kind of sleaze for it. "Is it just me, or is he short even for a tomato? I bet he has some real good vices. Short guys like that, they're always overcompensating, trying to make themselves more confident. I bet he puts something a little stronger than creamer in his coffee."
"Oooh!" Apply revels in the gossip. "Ought we check is office drawers? See if maybe there's something hidden that might not be well received by his Christian sponsors?"
"I think I may have already... borrowed the key. Surprise!" He produced the key with a sly grin. "He thinks he lost it. Hid his car keys too, so he'll be late for work. He'll never check inside the mayonnaise. He'll have to take the bus!"
