First post of 2024. I'm such an infrequent poster on here. I post more frequently on Instagram, but that app is falling apart. It's just no fun for artists any longer. I'll endeavour to post here more frequently.
The hollowest of hollow men.

"I don't live to drain, I drain to live."
A design for some of the main characters from The Sopranos.
Eggs.
Had a bit of artistic block over the last week or so. It's profoundly frustrating. You draw and draw and everything is garbage. I tried to switch off and this came out. Wonder where it came from...!
Film study from Sam Mendes' 'Road To Perdition.' Really like how the textures worked out on this one. The coat and hat do look drenched. I also like the ghostly figure emerging frm the darkness. The brushes I used are the Conte brush from The Painter's MaxPack and the Sketch Marker Round from The Comics MaxPack, both by the amazing Max Ulichney. You can find his packs here- https://gumroad.com/maxulichney. I highly recommend them. Two Procreate stock brushes were also used for soft shines and the rain. This was the longest one yet at 2 hr 20 minutes.
Meant to post this last night but instead, I sliced off the top of one of my fingers and spent the evening getting it glued back on. They cant stitch finger tips!
Yesterday was International Day of the Dog... or Dog Appreciation. But really, EVERY DAY is dog appreciation day. This is a very good boy indeed.
If Pixar did Marvel... One of the benefits of being able to draw at any time (thanks, Procreate), is that I feel able to experiment a little more. My biggest crutch is my reliance on line. Look at my work and 99.9% of it uses outline and line to define features and edges. I've been extremely reluctant to move away from them. But here, I decided to ditch em. And I'm happy to say I really like the result. There will be more... with fewer lines.
Wanted to see if I could approximate my Photoshop method in Procreate, all while watching GLOW on Netflix. Have to say, worked out pretty well. I love this app. And the show!
Recently went to see Hereditary. Holy.... shit. If you haven't seen it, it's pretty wild. And at the centre of it is this young kid who is pretty unique! Here she is, with a couple of little plot points.
Been out of action for the last two weeks. Just before I went on holiday, my PC absolutely crapped itself and the heatsink died. So I had to order a new one and install it after the holiday. But just before I went away, I was working on this little piece, featuring my little girl and her best friend. Mine is the attacker. She assaults people she loves with affection! Pushed the cartooniness for this one a bit.
