Capitalism is pure hypocrisy. They're not even trying to hide it. They openly declare "we're allowed to only care about money but you aren't", and people still support them. People still think capitalism is freedom. People still think capitalism benefits everyone.

I think one of the things that has been hurting people the most about the Wizard Game is seeing how little are people willing to do to actually help minorities. This isn’t asking people to donate to a cause, or get out and protest, it’s literally just “hey, at the very least, if you really want to play it, don’t give money to something that will fund the oppression of certain minorities”. This is a case where helping a cause is literally a matter of doing nothing. And yet, it feels like minorities are asking for too much.

We’re living in an era where antisemitism has been on the rise and more and more laws are getting passed to oppress trans people. The UK, where JKR*wling herself lives (and where her voice is more powerful), has stopped Scotland’s bill to protect trans people. I have seen fellow people from each group worry about how violence and hate towards them has been on the rise. And now, we ask for the barest minimum, and it’s met with further hate and hostility, even from people who claimed themselves to be allies.

Some people are rightfully angry, some are sad, some are deeply disappointed. People have legit concerns about what will happen if things get harder for these minorities, when even something as simple as “hey, don’t buy this game” is painted as a massive burden.

reminder for everyone to stop treating the harry potter issue as one that is only about trans people, please do not forget to listen to and stand up for jewish voices speaking out against this franchise and its creator.

Not to mention how many red flags were getting pointed out *before* her obsession with trans people began. The Jewish-coded goblins for one (that nerds loved to debate about and pretend had nothing to do with antisemitism), the way she evoked the trope of gay HIV+ men preying on children to spread AIDS around, the slaves that wanted to be slaves, and the misogyny of the Umbridge storyline and Snape's redemption. We can't downplay how transphobic she is but we need to remember it didn't start here
