I've been out and about since 5 am and I'm 1000% sure there are some narratives the asshats are going to spin about the protests in the next couple days (as they did in the days leading up to it, fantasising about the elusive Antifa attacking from roofs and what not) so if your co-workers or relatives say any of those things in the next days, I want to make some things very clear:

"The Antifa overslept and missed the delegates lol"

Protestors were awake all night. They meticulously planned 14 blockades for the past six months in and around town and successfully held them for hours. Unfortunately that amount of planning didn't go unnoticed so the AfD planned accordingly and either arrived a day early on the premises or had the help of their best friend the police to escort them unharmed to the conference hall.

"They were violent"

If they are the police, yes. If they are the protestors, no.

"But they attacked journalists!"

They defended themselves against right wing bloggers who kept provoking and teasing. The protestors asked them to leave several times and the so called journalists didn't comply and thought "Ah yes, provoking a lion inside a lion's den is a great idea." Sorry but play stupid games win stupid prizes.

"The entire thing was a failure for the left"

The organisers didn't manage to do what they set out to do. That sucks and everyone was pretty bummed out about it. BUT they mobilised 17k people to block streets. There were between 30k and 50k people in total in and around town, protesting. There were speeches, concerts, workshops, crafting stations, activities and countless things more everywhere and I haven't felt this at home here in a very long time. Thank you Widersetzen for your great work. I'm not a very brave person but after today maybe you'll find me sitting on the Autobahn the next time, too ❤️

mein wunsch ist übrigens, dass alle, die sich über krankenschein tag 1 aufregen, die gleiche energie und wut für die umstellung von bürgergeld auf grundsicherung mitbringen und sich in gewerkschaften und auf demos dagegen organisieren.

die umstellung trat diese woche in kraft, aber ich hab nicht das gefühl, dass wir gesamtgesellschaftlich da so darauf reagieren wie auf die krankschreibungsumstellung, dabei werden die konsequenzen absolut fatal sein. motto sollte 100% solidarität mit grundsicherungsempfänger*innen sein, selbst wenn man sich selbst nicht bedroht sieht.

fazit: wir sollten diesen mann noch mehr hassen, auch wenns sich schon anfühlt als wäre man am maximum.

having thought about it this is a generationally anti-consumer announcement that will have a profoundly detrimental impact on consumers and retail markets. this will price out new consumers even more than a $600 PS5 and $80 games will. this will make games less accessible and more nickel-and-dimed. this will make games impossible to share irl without giving your console up, and will stop institutions like libraries from being able to loan copies of modern games. and most importantly, it will be for a minimal profit, as most of the sales in video games are already digital.

this is such a staggeringly catastrophic piece of news that i'm shocked it wasn't said by nintendo. congrats to sony for one-upping them in anti-consumer practices.

And you went home and consoled yourself that you would never see any of these people again but then you met them over and over again because they live next door and your friend and the cute sister keep meeting up to make out but not actually date and then. You fall in love with the less-cute sister because it turns out she’s really witty and charismatic but she already knows and remembers and resents the fact that on a day when you were in a shitty mood you called her mid out loud in a dive bar.’

The weather forecast says a heat wave is coming. It’s never been this hot before, you feel like taking off your entire skin. The Thermostat says it’s 23 °C. The basic rules of modesty do not apply anymore. You get as naked as you can possibly afford at all times. Can you wear a bikini top and boxer shorts to university? Your professor does. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. You turn around to see if someone is following you. No one in sight. You walk a little faster. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. They’re almost here. You sit next to a stranger on the bus. Your thighs are touching. When you try to get up for your stop, you cannot move. The stranger is staring out of the window, but you can’t see their face in the reflection. Your upper legs have fused together and it will only be a matter of time before one of you consumes the other. It’s 36° and it’s getting heißer. Life doesn’t feel hard at all. It’s getting heißer and heißer. You try to turn off the radio, but as soon as you turn your back to it, it’s 36° again and it’s getting heißer. The Klimaanlage in the Deutsche Bahn is broken.
