Had it not been for Commander and his instructions to rebuild a bed and door, along with cleaning the entire dorm room, he would have beaten Petra to sleep by a good few hours. Still, despite his fatigue, he’d finally managed to give up on room 159’s threshold situation and begin his ascent homeward.
Thoughts of crawling into bed were interrupted, though, as he heard his voice called from somewhere behind him.
Turning, he paused, mid way between stating that it was, indeed, him. Had it not been for that whole memory lapse side effect of coming to this school, he’d remember joining the Scouting Legion. Eren had said he did, but no recollection had thus far reached him. What he did remember, though, was watching them all ride in and out of the walls. Besides, who wouldn’t recognize that cape?
"Uh… Yeah, it’s me." Confused, he scratched at the back of his head. Was he supposed to know her personally? Better yet how did she know him? Surely she didn’t keep track of all the trainees. "Have we met?"
Petra stopped short when Jean turned to face her. He appeared confused, as if he didn't recognize her. Her expression became concerned when her assumption turned out to be correct. She wondered how far back the memory lapses went, exactly. It appeared different for everyone.
She remembered Eren and the rest of his class joining the scouting legion and then leaving for their mission beyond the wall. After that, everything went completely blank for her.
"Ah," she breathed, a kind smile replacing the concern. "Yes! I know this place has tampered with our memories, but we did meet! I'm in the scouting legion. I remember welcoming you and your class! My name is Petra Ral, and I'm glad to see you're safe and well, Jean."
