                          ——— ★ The makings of a victor lay in the delicate balance                                          between brute strength and wiles; the latter of which                                          both opponents possessed in spades. This battle, he                                          daresay, was like a deadly chess match. And with any                                          chess match came the possibility of a stalemate: the                                          incredible agility of the informant cancelling out the                                          versatile power of Giorno’s Stand. In a way, he was                                          glad. Death and murder was something he’d like to                                          avoid again… for now, at least.

                          ——— ★ A sharp pain ripped through his side with every                                          shallow inhale. Sliding himself up against the closest                                          wall, the blond swallowed thickly, ignoring the sharp                                          taste of blood in his mouth. It could’ve been worse,                                          he acknowledged, but that didn’t make the experience                                          any less pleasant. It would’ve been worse, if he hadn’t                                          been in possession of Gold Experience. Glancing to                                          the side, the youth reached for a piece of debris,                                          caught in the crossfire of the battle. Lips stretched                                          into a grimace as he unbuttoned his shirt, forced                                          to pull it from several open stab wounds the fabric                                          had stuck to. He never should’ve gotten used to the                                          luxury of his enhanced Stand powers, which, teetering                                          on a God-like level, allowed him to heal others                                          instantaneously and painlessly. Here, in this school,                                          he had to do it the old fashioned way: inserting                                          objects into the wounds and turning them into                                          replacement organic material. Giorno’s stomach                                          twisted in anticipation as he brought the debris to the                                          deepest of the bleeding gashes. Clenching his teeth,                                          he braced himself and began working it into the wound.

                          ——— ★ The pain was immense. Giorno daresay it was worse                                          than receiving the cuts themselves. But the effects were                                          worth the effort; though his vision blurred and a horrible                                          groan slipped through his teeth, the deeper the debris                                          entered, the smaller the slice became. Bruises cleared                                          up around the area, and by the time he’d pressed the                                          last of the debris into the injury, his side was smooth                                          and painless, and no longer was his breathing labored.                                          Beads of sweat clung to his brow at the exertion it                                          had taken, and he felt no hurry to continue healing the                                          shallower cuts that littered his torso. Not to mention                                          the missing tooth that needed replacing, as well as the                                          broken nose and swollen lip. At least those could wait,                                          not long, but for a while.

                          ——— ★ Blue eyes turned upward, from the red and pale sight                                          of his skin, to the warzone that had once been called                                          the cafeteria. Not too far from where he sat, sprawled                                          across the floor, was a motionless figure. His                                          opponent, in the exact state Giorno himself would’ve                                          been in had he no healing capabilities. With a grunt,                                          the boy braced himself against the wall and lifted                                          himself to unsteady feet. Limping heavily, another                                          direct result of the informant’s damned knife, Giorno                                          made his way over to Izaya, seating himself at the                                          other’s side. He appeared unconscious— good, that                                          way he could say nothing as the blond awkwardly                                          lifted him and began pulling an arm from his coat,                                          where he could see blood seeping through the                                          material most heavily. Next came the shirt, though                                          he quickly decided it more efficient to take the                                          man’s blade and cut through the fabric. Lithe frame                                          finally uncovered, Giorno set to work, fixing the                                          damage he himself had caused.

                          ——— ★ He sure hoped Izaya didn’t wake up in the process.
