In the epilog au does this mean Queenie can be brought back as well? Kinger deserves all the happiness in the world.

Yes. Yes yes yes yes. Queenie will return, and Kinger will be the one to bring her back—I have very specific ideas as to why she abstracted in the first place, and why Kinger specifically could bring her back!! Those doodles will come eventually :)

HELLO INTERNET I’m back to drawing again with a new TADC AU!! AMAZING DIGITAL SPOILERS BELOW!!!!

I’m calling it the Epilogue AU! it’s technically canon-adherent—everything in the circus happened, including Jax’s abstraction. However, after the timeskip we see in the finale, Pomni decides to try again to get to Jax’s center in the abstraction he became.

These doodles take place probably years after Pomni manages to bring Jax back to his own mind enough to where he can take on a solid form again; and in this AU he’s finally made the choice to be a participant in his own recovery. Eventually, that leads to him finally coming to terms with the fact that he has quietly been a ‘she’ this whole time, but Jax has never let herself be that…until now, in her second chance.

As you can see, Jax still has scars from abstracting—in my AU, abstraction can’t be just magically reversed. It’s real, its effects are real, and they’re still present even if the abstracted mind is in the condition to summon enough will to come together again. The case of Jax’s psyche is very dependent on his own journey and why he abstracted to begin with. It’s not known at the beginning of the AU if anyone else can come back from abstracting, or if Jax is the only one, since Pomni saw firsthand that at his deepest core he didn’t want to go. (Spoilers, Jax won’t be the only one… :)c)

Pomni did go through a lot to guide Jax’s mind back to a place where he could gather himself back together into his own body again. Her scars are not physical, but it took Pomni a long time to be back to normal—an exertion of the mind at that level made her extremely lethargic and weak for a long time. She bore the effects proudly, as it was a small price to pay for her to get her friend back.

As said above, Jax finally comes to terms with her own gender and comes out to the other circus members YEARS after her recovery from abstraction. Even if Jax decides to take the reins of her own life and decisions, I feel like it would take a very very long time for her to be confident enough to expose herself like that to the others.

I plan to draw a lot more for this AU but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an ask in the inbox!! I already have TONS written up for this AU and I can’t wait to talk about it more!!

A "What-if" scenario on if the abstracted characters could "De-Abstract". I personally like the idea of abstraction being more permanent as it gives it a sense of finality, but I can't help but admit that the idea of De-Abstraction is a comforting thought, lol. Of course, I believe it also wouldn't be without consequences.

The idea for abstraction scars having a sort of 'crystal-like' appearance came from the animiniz in the Glitch store. Not sure I'll get any of them, but I love how they look.

Some head canons I like for de-abstraction:

They are more sensitive to light or bright areas, and maybe prefer the dark like abstractions. Maybe after too much time in the light they become overwhelmed. Caine made them a 'quiet' room to help them settle.

Maybe Caine makes them special sunglasses to better deal with light.

When they're agitated, their scars flare up and spike.

Maybe they're even more susceptible to re-abstracting when isolated for too long.

They're almost chronically tired.
