So after much consideration, I need to drop.

For now.

Val is over here not giving me much to work with, and even if I had another character, I'm not sure they'd give me much either. Honestly, it's frustrating because this is so much fun to see and be a part of.

I'm also having surgery early April. Recovery time on that is 6 weeks minimum no repetitive motion/no lifting. Hiatus is 2 missed activity checks max (or 4 weeks layman's terms).

I'll probably be back late May/Early June, depending on how recovery takes and how this creative recharge works for me.

While hiking was far from Leyla's favorite things to do, at the very least, she knew her own capabilities well. It was hot and uncomfortable, but if they were to make any headway at all at a decent rate, then they needed to keep moving. Most at least, had adapted that mindset as well. Most. Normally Leyla would be all too happy to keep to herself, allow someone else to play the role of group shepherd, but there is strength in numbers and the last thing any of them need is for people to start getting picked off. And so she found herself circling around towards the back of the pack, falling into step with one of the people furthest behind. "Come on." Her encouragement wasn't exactly friendly, but she managed to keep her tone from being too curt. "We don't need any stragglers. Who knows what the hell might be out here."

Val didn't like this at all. This was the furthest thing from what they were used to- so much plant life and humidity. At least it wasn't snow, they supposed.

"Huh?" They didn't even notice that someone had fallen behind with them when they heard her. "Oh, it's easier to watch for anyone who might be hurt from back here." It was true, sure, but they might also be having a time getting through all the greenery.

Suddenly they missed Arizona and the dry sand more than ever.

Val did want to get off of that beach; a month was plenty of time to feel stranded. What they didn't sign up for, however, was a jungle trek. It felt humid, cramped, and altogether unfamiliar to what they were used to. Not that they couldn't handle it, but there might be some complaining if the whole island was like this.

"Hey," they say to the person closest to them. It was pretty obvious that they were sticking to them. Which they didn't mind as much at the beach, but here, when their own nerves were shredded? Val at least wanted to know why it was happening.

"What is this?" They motion to the very little distance between them.

Erin jumped at the opportunity to get off the beach. They were sure that if they spent a few more days looking at the sea without a sign of rescue they'd have snapped. To their benefit, he had been somewhat amiable but it was wearing thin. Their plan off the bat was to stay close to a few people. Amongst the group heading off the beach, it was safe to say that Val looked like they could defend themselves and that was something Erin noted.

"Excuse me?" He looks up with a furrowed brow when spoken to, offended that the other had said something. "Predators don't go for those who are grouped up, asshole. I'm doing you a favour."

"Predators?" The most anyone had seen on this island were maybe crabs. They'd heard things, sure, but nothing that sounded too dangerous.

"You really think there's things out here that's gonna attack a whole group? Besides, even if there were, I dunno, wolves or something, what exactly do you think we'd be doing?" They'd be panicking and splitting up, they bet.

"Look, you wanna stay by me, be my guest. Just don't pretend you haven't been stuck to me this whole time."

THE PAST:

Val is from Flagstaff, AZ, where they work as an EMT.

They currently live with both their parents and their dog, Bolt.

Had a relatively decent upbringing, was a lower middle class household

Can speak both spanish and english due to both parents being second generation immigrants

THE PRESENT & SURVIVAL SKILLS:

They came along to see AC/DC in concert in their home country- apparently they rock harder here if the rumors are to be believed.

As an EMT, they know some basic first aid as well as how to stabilize a patient on the move.

They are good in hot and moderate climates, will complain if snow is present.

Has a light animal magnetism

Knows some basic sewing and embroidery skills

Can work some electronics

SOCIAL:

Are nice, but will let others come to them when it comes to other people and friendships

Tends to support when they finally establish connections with others, or even sees someone on a surface level needing help

Enemies are made slowly, but will have a held grudge for a while before finally being let go

Not very self aware about their feelings romantically/sexually, leading to doomed relationships

Some pain medication, as well as some Dramamine

In their suitcase:

3 sets of clothes, neatly folded, as well as a clumsily shoved in pajamas

A packer, for dysphoria purposes

Several 8-track and cassettes for the road, mostly rock music

More batteries than you can shake a stick at

A Swiss Army knife

Shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste (toiletries)

Val woke up to a familiar noise. No, not the waves, or the crowd forming nearby trying to make sense of anything. But their side hip beeping, letting them know that their tamagotchi had died. Of course, it'd have to wait.

Not remembering a ton from the actual crash, they emerged and found, of all things, a first aid kit lying near where they were. They didn't need it- somehow, they managed to escape this with just some bruising. But someone might.

Hey, everyone. I'm Mo, EST. I'll be playing Val (for now just Val. I might bring on another? Depends on how well I handle the one. Just getting back in the swing of writing here.) I'm a newly licensed pharmacy technician, and Val was actually one of the people involved in the original Syfy RPG. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone here, old and new, has grown in the last three years or so, and the twists and turns the admin has for us.
