I see people criticising Jae from DAY6 for all the things he has been saying about his company. I’ve seen comments about him oversharing, being too embarrassing, talking too much and upsetting the company and not being grateful. Tell me you’ve never had a shitty boss without telling me you’ve never had a shitty boss. Some people have never been GOT7/Jay Park/Jamie fans and that really shows because they’ve hinted at this for years. I also feel really sad when I see people telling him to shut up and stop causing trouble. Gaslighting 101. His experiences are valid, let him talk if he wants to, damm.
The fact of the matter is: Jae promoted the band better than JYPE ever did. I feel like it’s very unfair to criticise him for being loud and obnoxious when it is that very same behaviour that helped the group grow internationally. Every group needs a lightning rod like that and just as an example, this is why CIX are still stuck flying under the radar: they’re a group of quiet introverts with no lightning rod. As that famous poet once said: you can’t start a fire without a spark.
Jae’s candidness has irrevocably damaged his relationship with JYPE but it’s too late now, he has absolutely crossed the point of no return so he might as well spill any tea he has. His western ideals just doesn’t really mash well with South Korean society. He seems frustrated and I’m sure the company is frustrated but it speaks volumes that this issue can’t be resolved professionally behind closed doors. Also, I would never want to pit one member against another but it’s undeniable there’s clear favouritism towards Young K because he’s the model child. Dowoon, bless his heart I love that kid but he is not a vocalist, even got an official JYPE-Supported solo release. In contrast, you have Jae, who releases his self written-self produced material with his own money and no JYPE-backing. What’s the point in even staying with this company, just end whatever contract there is.
I just think JYPE is terrible. I have for a long time. To this day, I just marvel at how much JYPE managed to fuck up a perfectly great self-composing-self-producing group. That took real effort bro. Anyways, you won’t catch me being on the side of a company, ever. Jaebeom (both of them) warned us about this and they were absolutely right.
