@phantasmania
its “thighs rubbing together under ya sundress” season
Buy cute, cheap lace leggings. Cut them a little above your knee. Hem them or don’t, but then you can wear them under your sundresses and not worry about how you sit or if your thighs chafe, and if anyone sees them they look cute af so hell yes
Or a little deodorant between the thighs is magical
Also, LUSH sells this dust called Silky Underwear that makes your skin smooth so they don’t stick together or chafe.
I love that we’re all here for each other in this season of need
Monistat has an anti-chafing gel that works wonders and I live by. You can usually find it in the feminine care aisle of any drugstore.
There’s this stuff called Glide…pretty cheap & works hella miracles
I’m so ready for sundress season.

I collaborated with the social enterprise, Karaw Craftventures, and came up with these scary but cuddly “Encantures”. Karaw’s manager, Paul Orpiada and I have been talking about this for quite a time, but we only just realized the project this year.
The initial prompt for me was the Manananggal/USB idea, which came when I was desperately looking for the cap of my USB. This made me decide that the designs of all the Encantures must be functional and the function must relate to their personalities and mythical creatures. In every tag of each product, there’s a description and history of the encanture.

My favorite thing about Thomas the Tank Engine is that it canonically takes place in a train post-apocalypse where the Island of Sodor is the only safe zone in a totalitarian dystopia in which steam trains are routinely killed and their body parts are sold or cannibalized for repair
If you think I’m kidding you need to read the original books
could you please direct me to a source? i would feel much better if this was validated.
It took me so long to find this quote online but I did it because it’s so much darker than one might expect from Thomas the Tank Engine:
“…Engines on the Other Railway aren’t safe now. Their controllers are cruel. They don’t like engines any more. They put them on cold damp sidings, and then,” Percy nearly sobbed, “they…they c-c-cut them up.” -”The Bluebells of England.” Stepney the Bluebell Engine. Rev. Awdry, Wilbert. London: Egmont Publishing, 1963.
This illustration, by Gunvor and Peter Edwards, accompanied the above text in the original book, and depicts a pair of unfortunate Other Railway engines moments before being disassembled with a blowtorch.
HOLY FUCK LOOK AT THE ONE IN THE BACKGROUND THEY TOOK ITS FUCKING FACE OMG
the early thomas the tank engine books are pretty standard stuff. saccharine bubblegum type stories and illustrations. if you watched the show, it’s like that in book form. the second half of the railway series are so fucking dark and surreal i’m convinced they were a result of reverend wilbur awdry doing copious amounts of lsd and having hallucinations of his own death.
Excuse me but the very first story in the Railway Series is about an engine who hides in a tunnel and refuses to run because he doesn’t want to get his paint job ruined in the rain, so railway management seals off the tunnel.
They eventually let him out because another engine breaks down or something, but the original plan was to just leave him in there forever.
On the show, didn’t they also hook up one engine to a generator, so he’d never move again? That was literally one of the lines, I think. It’s on some other post on here. It was chilling.
Yes! This also happened in the books, to an engine referred to only as “No. 2″, but the television series applied the same scenario to an invented character named “Smudger”, in the episode “Granpuff”.
“Smudger,” said Duke. “Was a show-off. He rode roughly and often came off the rails. I warned him to be careful, but he took no notice.” “Listen, Dukie” he snared. “Who worries about a few spills?” “We do here! I said, but Smudger just laughed.” “Hahaha!” “Until one day, Manager said he was going to make him useful at last. Smudger stopped laughing then!” “W-w-why? What did he do?!” “He turned him into a generator. He’s still there behind our shed. He’ll never move again.”
This is so fucked up
No, listen.
Okay, so we see Railway Management doing all this shit, right, but supposedly it’s so much worse in the Other Railways? I mean, sure, you might get turned into a generator or bricked into a tunnel for not doing as you’re told, but at least you’re not cut up and sold for parts, right? It’s not so bad on the island of Sodor, right?
Or maybe that’s just what Railway Management wants the engines to think.
Maybe the island of Sodor is the real totalitarian regime, and the engine citizens (slaves) are fed propaganda, illustrated in hellish grays and sulfuric yellows, about how bad it is everywhere else, at all the Other Railways.
You are lucky to be an engine of Sodor.
Railway Management cares about you.
Trust Railway Management.
Stay on Your Track.
It Could Be So Much Worse.

That first image is an edit of HUGZzz by Irene Strychalski. She’s improved tremendously in the past nine years, and you can see her current work on her tumblr, reniedraws! She has done backgrounds for Archer and Unsupervised, backgrounds and character designs for Chozen, and pencils and inks for issue #1 of Deadpool Family. She’s currently making a webcomic called Shaman Child. Here’s some of her current art:
[girl with scarf] [deadpool] [wedding commission] [hair and water]
As for the anime girl in the plaid skirt, I braved the hellscape that is early ‘00s anime websites, exploring endless gif-covered Gaia pages and vampire-filled roleplay forums, traveling across seas of unsourced DeviantArt edits and low-res hentai, to discover that she is an original character by Hiro Suzuhira. She has done work for Shuffle!, Ef: A Tale of Melodies, Akikan!, Phantom Breaker, and We Without Wings, among many others, and she is also a prolific freelance illustrator. Here are some examples of her art:

a summary of me
Syria and Surigao
Okay, I’m just going to rant here because I have seen at least two videos regarding Syria’s plight right now and I’m going to tell you why I think this is unfair.
I’m a Filipino. Most of my Facebook friends are. The pages they share are international, and so you can’t blame them for seeing videos and posts about how awful Syria is right now and how terrible our world is for children.
But what about Surigao?
Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur are provinces in the southernmost islands of the Philipppines, in Mindanao.
(Above photos from Surigao del Norte’s and Surigao del Sur’s Wikipedia pages.)
Now, what’s the deal with Surigao?
In September 1, 2015, three people were killed in Surigao del Sur by armed men. One of them was a school head for an alternative learning system that strives to educate the young and old lumad of the region. He was found with his hands bound and his throat slit, his stomach stabbed. The other two are lumad leaders, and were asked to step out of their homes at 4am and killed right before the watching eyes of their community.
Paramilitaries are currently massacring, raping, harassing, and driving the lumad away from their ancestral grounds–their fucking homes–with threats and terrorism. Why? No one is really sure. The more paramilitary-friendly explanation is that these armed men assumed the three community figures are part of or affiliated with the New People’s Army (NPA). How do they know? Well, accounts said that if you had a gun, you were automatically assumed by the paramilitary to be a member of the NPA. The more capitalistic and realistic explanation is that the southern part of the Philippines is good mining ground. A friend of mine who hails from Surigao mentioned that there are actual islands off the coast of Surigao that cannot be seen due to the sheer amount of ships surrounding them, gathering ores and other minerals and extracting money from these resources. No one knows from which companies or countries these are from–and the government seems to pay no mind.
Currently, children are scarred and traumatized. They cannot and do not go to school due to fear and lack of resources. Their families are driven out of their homes, out of their villages, out of the lands of their fathers and forefathers, and are now living in evacuation areas.
(Artworks of some children from Surigao who witnessed the killing of their community leaders. Photos from http://www.interaksyon.com/article/100488/disrupted-dreams–lumad-childrens-art-portrays-their-hopes-and-fear.)
What are lumad, then?
Lumad are a group of indigenous people that refers to the collective ethnolinguistic groups in the south of the archipelago. Lumad is a Cebuano word that means native. They are a slowly dying and yet truly colorful culture due to modernization, and now this. The customs and traditions, the stories and knowledge and wisdom of these lumad are those preserved and alive back in the precolonial days, strong and protected despite the Spanish colonization (Mindanao was hardly touched by the Spanish colonization), even against the Americans (who sought to ally with them instead of conquer them).
Here resounds the lines from Heneral Luna. “Ganito ba talaga tayo? Kalaban ang kalaban. Kalaban ang kakampi. Nakakapagod.”
(Photo from http://www.interaksyon.com/article/100488/disrupted-dreams–lumad-childrens-art-portrays-their-hopes-and-fear.)
What’s my deal? Why do I think it is unfair to keep attentions on Syria?
It’s no one else’s primary fault but the government and the media that we do not have enough knowledge nor coverage of the lumad killings right now. The leaders were killed only September 1, 2015. But this driving out of the natives has been going on for years and has only been brought to attention now. Take note that they aren’t even in the forefront of local news, just special mentions and little drops of names here and there. It only becomes our responsibility, our fault, when we know what is going on and yet choose to not care and not help cure or alleviate the situation.
Remember as well that the current egghead of a president we have, Noynoy Aquino, started a counter-insurgency operation called Oplan Bayanihan that pretty much did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. Examples, you say? Mamasapano. SAF44. A rise of military operations and alongside it, human rights violations. If you need the numbers and more, click this link: http://www.karapatan.org/resources/statistics.
And of course, it’s not difficult to suppose that his family has had the media by their throats for a long while now. I’m going to just say one name: Kris Aquino. One of the most influential (yes, do not deny) celebrities in the country.
Syria and what’s happening there is highly covered in so many countries and media networks around the world. As it should be: an entire country’s descent to the most human hell must be stopped, children and families and innocent lives must be saved by all forces possible.
But here’s the thing: we Filipinos know so much more about Syria than we do our kababayans. Within our own fucking lands, we have chaos and terrorism and military bullshittery happening. Mga kadugo natin. Mga kapatid. (Our brothers.) What’s the fucking deal with us, na ang hilig nating pumansin agad sa muta ng iba gayong sarili nating muta ay hindi natin malinis? (Why do we so love to point out other people’s mistakes when we cannot even fix our own mistakes?)
We all should care for Syria, yes. The children there are suffering and deeply traumatized. No kid should ever have to go through that which they go through now. See this video here, and this one, too. But that does not mean we should be ignorant and blind and uncaring about our own fucking issues. There are children traumatized and involved here, too. #StopLumadKillings is a good way to bring about awareness and attention to what’s happening to Surigao, but the number of people who know are still so small, and the number of people who know and care, so much less. I’m not even going to try and bring up those who know and care and do something about it.
We have to bring the plight of our lumad brothers and sisters to the forefront, headlines and sirens and red lights all over. We have to make the government active and accountable for what is happening to them, to us. We have to get involved and get dirty because this is our land, our country, our home. If these lumad people are supposed to be protected by laws like this and this and yet are so transgressed, then how the fuck do we expect to be safe from the same fucking operations the government is letting through now?
And why do I have to put this in a perspective that will let you understand how shitty the situation is, when we can just understand it in the language of compassion and humanity?
