                Alibaba’s chat pulls up on his phone before he’s about to confirm plans with Mishima after school making Akira pause in the hallway just out of the way of other students trying to head home for the day. The hacker’s frequent check ups serve as a constant reminder of what’s at stake if they don’t comply with their request. The revealing of identities aside, their help in taking down Medjed is vital and he knows they can’t blow this. He switches to their group’s main chat leaving a brief message letting them know Alibaba has contacted him again before he returns to the private chat to reply to the message.

                   Mishima’s update could wait for another day, maybe he should call a meeting at their ‘ Hideout ‘ and discuss their options instead.

“How’d you get a bruise like that?”

                Akira had nearly forgotten about the nasty bruise he’d received from a particularly rough run through Mementos the other day. Taking on the group of four Fuu-ki with a nearly exhausted party hadn’t been what he’d planned, but the dungeon system had a funny way of ruining his plans.

               The bruise had been nastier last night, darker and much bigger on his arm, but a healing skill had taken the brunt of the pain away and made it look much better. Akira tugs at his sleeve but the material doesn’t quite cover the dark splotch on his skin. He leaves the sleeve be and instead finds a stray curl of his hair with his hand and twists it between his fingers.

         “ Work ” he finally replies. Its not a lie not entirely, he knows Mishima will make the connection between ‘ work ‘ and ‘ The Phantom Thieves ‘ but he can't just say it outright with other people around. “ It looks much worse than it feels. “
