Recalled some past HCs from years ago and..with this talk of Ryuji needing to teach Yusuke slang, I remember Prince's Futaba had introduced him to the world of online art and commissions. And while Yusuke prefers more traditional art, he has been dabbling in digital artwork. All to make that money for his poor student funds

‘ For my birthday Akira had bought me a recipe book for students on a budget. I finally can say I believe my days of instant noodles and boxes of Jagariko are over. ‘ Okay maybe that last part was an exaggeration, but the Emperor was proud of his finished work. He had prepared himself a proper meal, something that seemed so rare for the artist no longer living with a guardian to support him. Before the two of them sat a plate of omurice, decorated with ketchup sauce. He was so enamored with things like the beauty of cooking and did hold such knowledge on how to do things, so going through with preparing dishes like this brought him such joy.

Akira had .... managed to send him something despite being in jail - he’d be out in a few months from what they were all told but this still came as a surprise to him. The duvet was lovely, the starry pattern reminding him of one of van Gogh’s pieces, Akira certainly knew his taste inside and out. Yusuke was far use to sleeping on a futon, but the duvet would assure he’d be extra warm on the colder nights. Seeing the zipper did he tilt his head before reaching out to unzip it - met with the sight of yen bills falling out.

Oh ... That was unexpected.

— a hand written letter from a certain criminal makes it’s way into sojiro’s possession. it isn’t the first && wasn’t anywhere to the last, but there was a certain extra length to it. “ otousan~ （╹◡╹）can you do me a favor since i can’t do this myself? ask futaba about the savings i have. i need to ask you to buy something for me. “ there was a certain teasing quality to his words even now, but the letters grew smaller then his usual written script.

There was more to it. It was a little hard to read but… He could read it. It was neat enough anyway…

The whole thing had to be done quietly apparently… There were a few item suggestions that the kid had made for him. Futaba had helped him pick which would be the best, or in this case, the funniest.

The duvet had been purchased, complete with starry sky print… And h’ed followed the ( somewhat strange ) instructions to the letter. It still astounded sojiro that the kid had THAT much money. But really, he wasn’t going to question it. By the time Sojiro was done with it, the hole in the duvet would be impossible to see… But the new zipper along the side? Obvious.

He’d finished up the package, and decided to wait until the artist was coming in for his free lunch before handing it off. There was a letter attached to the Duvet’s bag, reading:

“ since you can’t wrap yourself around me ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) this will have to be enough for now. ♡( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) happy birthday, fox “

His birthday was one he was use to not spending like many normal children. Even after his mother long passed was he use to his teacher and caretaker saying he didn’t have enough to even do anything for the blooming artist. As he grew up and began doing things on his own, growing into his own financial problems did he never do anything, or treat it as too special. Though honestly, if anyone were to do anything for him, to show gratitude for him being born, well that’d be a quick way to making him emotional.

He's here! He's kicked down the door, holding what looks like a thick recipe book as well as a cake balanced on said recipe book... "Sorry! I spent ALL day decorating this!" Said cake was decorated so it had the exact same marking as the mask Yusuke used in the Palaces. "Here. A guide for cooking on a college student budget. I know you're not a college student but hey. It's never too late to start practicing."

Oh -!! What was this? He had gotten a text earlier from Akira to wait for him at Leblanc, mentioning he had something he wanted to show him...but alas Yusuke seemed to get there before him. The artist didn’t mind, and it was very thankful that Sojiro was kind enough to brew him a cup as he waited on Akira. ‘ Ah Akira-Kun you’re he- ‘ Before he could finish was the cake, properly boxed to stay from getting destroyed was placed open infront of him. The sight of the pastry alone was enough to shock and surprise him. ‘ This is....for me. ‘ He’d murmur, staring in awe over the beauty of the cake, though it wasn’t long before the book was presented before him. Hands extending did he take it from the ravenette, giving a bow of his head...tears most likely budding at the edges of his eyes. ‘ Thank you, I truly am greatful. ‘

He was....asking him about his likes, asking about his birthday - considering giving him a gift. Art had always played a big role through out his entire life, after all his mother was under the care of his previous teacher up until her death, and then was his talent discovered at such a young age. It was all he seemed to care about. Akira asked what else he liked other than art, the fact that he wanted to give him a birthday present seemed so odd to him. He would receive few gifts on his birthday, on atleast the ones he could recall, more so when he was younger than when he was growing up. ‘ Ah ... what else do I like ?? ‘ His mind would wander, reaching a hand up to swipe at azure bangs. ‘ Anything from you would be warmly welcomed, Akira-Kun. ‘
