I had the chance to catch up with an old friend, what most people refer to, an LNB. Miha has been a friend for quite some time, and we ever so often catch up, talk about our lives, helping each other. She has been my ear and someone that I could rely on. I met on line a few years back and we developed rapport with each other. After all, many moon ago, I used to live in her country. It was a great way to keep in touch with a country it meant so much for me. I spend all my teenage-hood in Bucharest. For a person like me, being raised in 8 different countries, the most difficult question, is when I’m asked ‘where do you come from?’ Oddly enough, being a blend of many cultures, Romania is definitely a defining point of my life. After all, as I said before, I did spend my teenage-hood there.
I had the chance to talk with Michaela this morning, and I though to write a-relevant to the magazine-mini interview of a strong woman, trying make her very own pink into the universe. The relevance with the magazine’s topic is that she’s a long nailed woman, in fact she is probably the longest nailed woman in Europe.
TWON: Tell me Michaela, what drove you, to grow your nails to such extreme length?
Michaela: I have always had my nails long, back in the days I was keeping them up to 5cm long due to school. You see they didn’t allow long nails, and it was my very own way of making, my very own rebellion against the system, against school, and to a certain extend against the social prejudism that defined what is socially correct and what it isn’t. After a while, when I graduated school, I could grow them even longer, without anybody telling me what to do, the floor was the limit. At first, I set a target to myself, to reach 10cm of long nails. The 10cm became 20cm, then 30cm, then 40cm…and inevitably half a meter! I’m currently measuring 48cm my longest nail. Cumulatively I measure more than 3.5meters of nails which would make it, more than twice my height! I’ll tell you this, if my nails were straight instead of curved they would touch my ankles.
TWON: So you are currently measuring your nails at 48cm, floor is the limit, what’s next for Mihaela?
Michaela: 50cm-cm…not years old- will be my ultimate limit, after that I’ll trim them a little and keep on growing them and probably set a target to another 50cm. I actually very proud to feel that I’m almost there.
TWON: What’s your favourite nail varnish colour?
Michaela: When it comes to a certain length, you have to be very careful of what nail polish you use. I thas to be a good qualit yo fnail vernish that does not require too many coats. The interesting part, for someone with such length as mine is that the nail varnish should dry fast, it’s important so that the nails do not touch each other. The truth is, no woman can stay with her hand in the air forever. My favourite colours are the, more less…50 shades of red. Anything red-ish, and I’m sold!
TWON: Give us a few tips, for the women who wants to grow their nails past the 3 inches.
Michaela: The hardest part is always to reach the 1 inch benchmark. After that they don’t longer curve backwards, but they do curve towards any direction. It only takes time after that and loads of patience. Constantly adjusting to do things differently in order to protect the nails.

As for the women out there, if they want to grow their nails long, they should keep pushing no matter what. At my experience, there is nothing that can not be done…except bowling perhaps.
