"Do it right Mickey!" — Fergus whenever Mickey tries to take a shortcut
Mickey is a cheeky, daring, and playful engine who works at the Sodor Cement Works on the Kirk Ronan Branch Line after he was officially bought to aid Fergus with rising demand after his daring escape from scrap.
Biography
Mickey arrived on the Island of Sodor to help ease the workload at the Sodor Cement Works alongside Fergus. With the demand for cement rising drastically, Mickey was brought in to hustle trucks and keep things moving. Being a tank engine with a vibrant personality, he quickly settled into the daily grind, though having a brand-new engine body still felt rather unusual to him—he was still getting used to how his new steel plates reacted to the elements and how different it felt compared to older, more seasoned designs.
Despite his hard work at the works, Mickey is inherently daring, cheeky, and playful. He loves playing lighthearted tricks, especially when another engine starts getting too big for their buffers and needs to be taken down a peg. However, he always knows when to get serious, stepping up to the plate whenever the quarry gets overwhelmingly busy. His biggest trial on a daily basis isn't the heavy loads of cement, but rather his coworker Fergus.
Nothing annoys Mickey more than hearing Fergus endlessly repeat his catchphrase, "Do it right Mickey!", which always tests the tank engine's patience to its absolute limit.PersonalityMickey is full of life, cheeky, and fiercely playful. He has zero tolerance for pomposity and will eagerly tease any engine who acts superior.
Beneath his mischievous exterior, however, lies a hardworking and dependable engine who understands the value of responsibility. He can switch from playful to dead serious in a heartbeat if a job demands it. Still, working alongside a stickler for the rules like Fergus means Mickey spends a lot of time biting his tongue—or his regulator—to avoid snapping back.
Technical Details
Basis:
Mickey is based on a London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T much like Arthur Some features of his design - such as the dip in the running board below the tanks and the shape of the bunker - appear to have been erroneously modelled using a BR Standard Class 3 2-6-2T for reference, rather than his intended basis, it is possible that Mickey was an experimental for the BR Standard Class 3 2-6-2T.
Livery:
Mickey is NWR scarlet red with black lining on his bunker, cab, tanks, and splashers, yellow cab window frames, black wheels, and a red dome.
Fun Facts:
Mickey has no records of existence prior to his arrival on Sodor, possibly because he used to be human!
He intentionally chose his livery to be identical to James' after he saw that James was boasting over being the only engine on the island with that exact livery.
Mickey will often help Whiff and Scruff at the Kirk Ronan Waste Dump with the heavier loads.
