Is it just me or is there anyone else who finds it extremely baffling how Targaryen lovers (no matter which era) at the slightest inconvenience and lack of throne in Westroes, go to conquer essos or brutally conquer Dorne?

The first one is absurd cause you expect those privileged dragon riders whose ancestors were famous for slavery too, would ever empathise with slaves of all people? I like Rhaenyra but she would never. Even Daemon stayed in Essos for years and he never did anything cause logistically it's a nightmare. The only reason Daenerys did it was because she empathised with slaves from her OWN EXPERIENCE, making her one of the best people and because what did she had to loose? She had everything to gain by doing so.

And the Dorne. One of the only regions canonically who actively resisted and repelled the Targaryen invasion and remained to be a constant headache for the dynasty until they were brought in by marriage (a lot more went in that but still). Yet in almost mamy pro Targ fics they get the short end of stick, Targaryens wiping out their entire lineages for revenge or something. Bruh, you guys invaded them, you jeep becoming a constant threat to them, you are RACIST towards them and you want them to welcome you with cookies and cream?? Should Dorne had rolled out a carpet when Rhaenys went there? You can dish out but can't take it?

This isn't me bashing a specific fic. This is just me being tired of Targaryens always taking out their problems on Dorne in fics. Succession problem? Go to war with Dorne. You lack throne? Go to war with Dorne. You are ambitious but have no where else to go? Go to war with Dorne. Want to redirect your ambitious relatives to anywhere but your throne? Go to war with Dorne. Came in power after a huge succession struggle and want to prove yourself? Go. To. War. With. Dorne!

At this point, I will cheer for any fic in which Dorne at the slightest threat of invasion hire army of assasins to poison their enemies and get rid of threats, swoop in to install puppet kong onnIron Throne. Done and dusted. There will be some years of peace even in westroes after that.

And before anyone comes for my throat, I do like Targaryens and have written many pro targ fics. Well, used to, before season 2 of HOTD came out. Only thing now I am cheering for is their annihilation except for kids XD

I cannot understand why Prime Ji Ling (yes, prime, deal with it) was imprisoned by Yuan Wuhuo.

I mean I get why but HOW?

Prime Ji Ling was a fox saved by Chi Wen. Chi Wen, the supposed respected dragon, who had ties to Shi Lin sect. And Yuan Wuhuo, a member of Shi Lin sect. He imprisoned Prime Ji Ling right in that sect? Where were others? Where was Bai Ze? Where was Chi Wen? Are you saying no knew or cared for a fox they themselves saw imprisoned solely because he chose to heal people but couldn't save one person for valid reasons?

What kind of writing is this?

And even the why is so stupid I cannot explain. If he was such a loving bro who wanted his bro to survive, the hell are you doing bringing him with you on an extremely dangerous mission. You wouldn't even be alive without prime Ji Ling's help, what gave you the right to imprsion him?

I am curious, did Chi Wen knew and choose not to intervene? If so, he's not the merciful dragon deity he was portrayed as.

And Yuan Wuhuo suffers from the same poor, surface-level writing as every other major character in this drama does. He is pitiful, miserable, and unlikable.

Went sleuthing on rednote and people were saying that Chi Wen was busy to pay attention and the rest of the sect probably thought Prime Ji Ling to be nothing but another demon who committed a crime imprisoned by their commander. Which- it reeks of corruption and incompetence.

And the fact how Prime Ji Ling was able to sneak in the meeting between Chi Wen and Yuan Wuhuo when dragon scale was being handed over just confirms that. How are you doing such important thing in a low security area?

As for Yuan Wuhuo, I tried, and I cannot pity him. Sad basckstory gives you no right to ruin someone like that.

The experience of watching VoS can be summed up like this: this criminal/incompetent person has lots of sad background so forgive them.

Everything about Chi Wen/Long Shen is Fake

Stolen would not be the right word. Borrowed? But I will add stolen beacuse there is one instance where it is.

Disclaimer: SPOILERS! Also, this is not a critique on TJR (my favorite actor for last year and even still now). If you like (fake) Chi Wen, scroll away.

By now, many theories have emerged, then there is also the series itself progressed to some plot points where we can safely draw conclusions.

1. The post of Long Shen that Chi Wen occupies? Not his. I will admit, from all the info that we currently have, his decision to hold this position is nothing less than a sacrifice. I hate the man but I will give him credit.

2. His name itself. His own original name is Ji Ling? The same name that he decided to give away to a version he created by putting a part of his soul in a doll. Not a puppet, because puppets do not break control of their owners and ask about the acknowledgement of their existence.

3. His powers. Whenever he uses a power, he takes on a certain appearence. That appearence likely belongs to the being whose powers he is using.

4. His memories of outside world. Because they are not his. They will never be his. He himself acknowledges this by acting all wide eyed when seeing the outside world for the first time. The people dancing. The leather left to tan. Petting a peacock. He is fascinated. So even if he recieved Ji Ling's memories, he never got that experience.

5. His romantic relationship. Because it was Ji Ling who engaged with Lu Wuyi. And proof of this is Lu Wuyi herself whobasks if he us Ji Ling or not. She is not interested in other answers. (Which will change too, but as of right now it is what it is

6. His face. Apparently the fox took on the appearance of one person he failed to heal.

So Chi Wen/Long Shen is a person who lived a long life, but it was a borrowed life. Borrowed name, borrowed face, borrowed powers, stolen memories, stolen experiences. Borrowed meant that he took it with permission/acknowledgment of the owner, or they were could not be impacted by it in the first place (the case of his appearance). Stolen meant he either forcefully took it (Ji Ling), or took it without their knowledge or acknowledgement (Ji Ling). Does that makes him pitifull? Yes. Does it makes him more prone to self flaglation or putting himself down? Yes.

Will it make me like him? Nope. You are welcome to do whatever you want with this info🙂

You are correct in all of your assumptions.

Almost all of the main characters are "fake" and wearing "a painted skin". The only real one is Wu Shiguang. Wu Wangyuan? A thousand-year-old fox that doesn't even remember her true self anymore. Lu Wuyi - created for a single purpose (but doesn't know it yet), just like Ji Ling. Chi Wen? fake persona, fake powers, fake everything. His existence is sad, but that doesn't excuse his cruelty. Li Jie? a part of an old whole, a single-minded obsession wrapped into flesh.

As usual, Guo JiMing took an interesting concept and ruined it, but what else can you expect?

The brilliance of GJM's writing is that we have no demon corpses as demons turn into star dust but then in the same breath we have black markets trading in the body parts of those dead demons, autopsies being run on dead boddies of demons and dead boddies of demons being used for unethical experiments XD

Spend entire day stewing on it and found this question: will Long Shen forever be able to decieve himself that it is him Lu Wuyi loves or the being he called a mere puppet that cannot have it's own feelings? Because Ji Ling did all those things for Lu Wuyi with no input whatsoever from Long Shen.

So the question is, when Lu Wuyi asks him if he is Ji Ling or not, if Ji Ling is in him, will he always be able to rationalize it as his own romantic entanglement and embrace it without hesitation, or will it haunt him that the love story he is living is stolen from a being he considered inferior?
