On this 24 May 2026, we celebrate Pansexuality Awareness and Visibility Day.

It's a day to promote awareness of Pansexuality & Panromanticism, both as valid Orientations and for what they really are.

There are too many misconceptions as to what Pansexuality is and that is carried through to adult websites, apps & platforms, where it is further promoted & develops even more misinformation & false beliefs.

What Pansexuality is not is group activity of a mature nature, such acts with anybody, everybody or anything or promiscuity.

What Pansexuality actually is, is an Orientation where attraction to another person is possible, regardless of the Gender Identity of that other person, in a 'gender blind' manner.

'Gender blind' simply means that the knowledge of one's Gender Identity is of no concern, as that individual is seen as a person regardless.

When a pansexual individual is attracted to another, physical & romantic traits may be a factor but the biggest factor is personality, for that's what makes a person.

The ability to be attracted to anyone regardless of Gender Identity certainly does not mean that they are attracted to everyone & want to form intimate relationships with everyone.

That is one of the myths that float around which an awareness day like today is a good opportunity to dispel.

In fact, a person can identify as pansexual & spend their entire life without forming any such relationships with any other person.

Whilst today's celebration contains the word 'Pansexuality', it's also very much about Panromanticism.

Panromanticism is similar to Pansexuality but to explain it in a simple way, there is no sexual attraction involved.

In a Panromantic individual, that part is either turned down, non-existent or attuned more towards part of another Orientation.

Platonic relationships are very common amongst panromantics, where there may be little or no sexual attraction for another individual but all their focus is on romantic attraction, still in a 'gender blind' manner.

Today is also about visibility.

The Pansexual/Panromantic cohort are often forgotten about or not known, which creates invisibility.

Commonly used acronyms such as 'LGBT' or 'LGBTQI' continually mention other cohorts but the Pansexual/Panromantic cohorts remain invisible.

Awareness creates Visibility.

Visibility creates Awareness.

Remember, Pansexuality and Panromanticism are two closely aligned but distinctly separate Orientations, that are both valid in their true forms and definitions.

They both accentuate personality, which forms a very good foundation for the development of a lasting relationship.

Today, 17 May 2026, is a significant day on the calendar.

More commonly known as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia or IDAHoBIT, this annual event is a day for community solidarity is rejecting all forms of hate towards us.

We use a different name, IDAOD, short for International Day Against OGIAID Discrimination, which is more accurate and inclusive.

This day was sparked by the World Health Organisation removing homosexuality from the classification as a mental illness on 17 May 1990.

That act was one step towards the removal of discrimination to the community.

Regardless which part of the community someone stems from, we are collectively subjected to hate and associated harassment or violence because of the ways in which we identify, be it Orientation, Gender Identity or as an Intersex person.

It is a human rights violation to discriminate against an individual or group based on identity, yet it happens every day somewhere in the world.

Archaic ideologies and beliefs contribute to this hate.

Innocent people suffer as a result in all sorts of ways.

It's not only bullying, harassment and violence.

For instance, when a medical professional or Government prevents someone from receiving gender-affirming care, that's discrimination.

When the only toilets provided in a school, workplace or public building do not accommodate anyone under the non-binary umbrella, that's discrimination.

When an individual is excluded because their physical traits or characteristics make them appear different than how they identify, that's discrimination.

Or if an invitation to an event prevents a guest from bringing a non-heterosexual partner, that's discrimination.

Hate and discrimination must make way for acceptance and tolerance.

Today is Human Rights Day.

Whether your Orientation is Pansexual, Omnisexual, Polysexual, Abroromantic, even Heterosexual or however you identify in this manner,

Orientation Rights are Human Rights.

Whether your Gender Identity is Non-Binary, Genderfluid, Female, Multigender, Male, Androgyne or however you identify in this manner,

Gender Identity Rights are Human Rights.

If you have a variation in body parts or characteristics,

Intersex Rights are Human Rights.

If you are a person with disability, whether one disability or more, visible or hidden,

Disability Rights are Human Rights.

If you are a child by legal definition, you have specific rights.

Children's Rights are Human Rights.

It's Pansexual Pride Day!

Whether you are shouting it from a mountain or top of a tower. Whether you are affirming this quietly to yourself while closeted. Be proud of your Pansexuality or Panromanticism.

You are valid, regardless what anyone says otherwise.

If they want to argue, bring it on.

I'll fight them on this to the end.

Be proud of your Orientation.

On this 20th Day of November 2025, let us pause and remember all transgender humans who have lost their lives as a result of discrimination and transphobic hatred.

On this International Day of Transgender Remembrance, pay respect to those who sacrificed their lives, lost the fight or were taken away by the intolerance of other sections of the human population.

Transgender people consist of an entire spectrum of Gender Identities and each is valid.

May those lost before us never be forgotten as we continue the struggle for total equality and an end to transphobia.

It's Intersex Solidarity Day, an annual day to reflect and unite in remembrance of the Intersex community.

08 November is the date of celebration as it is the birthdate of a prominent Intersex figure in history.

Herculine Barbin was born on 08 November 1838.

She became a teacher and was attracted to other women.

She wasn't like other women in that she had characteristics not typically associated with a female, such as needing to shave and being flat-chested.

After a medical examination, she was ordered by a judge to live as a man and was officially reclassified as male.

Herculine was forced to become Abel Barbin.

The press of 1860 had a field day and at the age of 30 in 1868, she passed away by her own doing as the pressures of society against her were too much for her.

Being intersex was seen then as monstrous and even today, there is still much misunderstanding and vilification of intersex people.

Every intersex person is valid and they are evidence that sex or gender are not binary; variations exist in every which way.

Body parts, appearance or characteristics do not dictate who a person is.

Only an individual can make that choice.

Intersex Rights are Human Rights and the PHANTOM Community is committed to upholding those rights.

Today is Intersex Awareness Day.

It's a day to create awareness and knowledge of intersex people, the state of being intersex and what being intersex actual is.

There are many who don't know what intersex is or that it actually exists.

Those who have heard of intersex can have mixed understandings, with some who have misguided ideas from myths and misinformation.

A day like today helps to correct the record and inform.

At PHANTOM, we advocate for the rights, recognition and inclusion of all Orientation and Gender Identity Diverse (OAGID) people, regardless how they identify.

This includes all within the Transgender Classification.

We support all Transgender women and girls and reject all division, transphobic, political and otherwise, created by intolerant sections of the broader population.

Our stance is clear. A woman or girl is someone who identifies as a woman or girl, regardless of their body parts, characteristics or appearance at birth or beyond.

All transgender women and girls have equal rights to women's and girl's spaces because they are women and girls.

IDAOD 2025

It's Saturday.

It's 17 May 2025.

It's also IDAOD 2025!

Today is the day on the calendar that is otherwise known as IDAHoBiT (International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia Transphobia), though to be more inclusive, some call it International Day Against LGBT Discrimination.

Since 2023, we've referred to it here (in the PHANTOM Community) as IDAOD or International Day Against OAGID Discrimination, which is way more inclusive.

Bottom line is that any form or hate, intolerance, exclusion, bullying, harassment or violence against an individual or group because of their Orientation or Gender Identity, is nothing other than discrimination.

Regardless where in the world you are, you have a fundamental human right to identify by the Orientation and Gender Identity that you are, by the way that you feel as a human and are attracted to others.

Regardless of who they are or how they identify, nobody else should be ill-treating you, vilifying you, assaulting you, trolling you, excluding you or discriminating against you in any other way.

Regardless what the law might be in any particular jurisdiction, it's wrong and it's harmful. In countries that do have legislation, it's also illegal.

Regardless how you identify, we must stand united, in solidarity as intersectional humans and call out such behaviour.Never accept it as the norm or dismiss it as nothing.

In recent days, damaging and hateful laws were passed by the Parliament in Hungary 🇭🇺.

The new laws ban any Pride events, gatherings or protest from taking place in Hungary.

It doesn't stop there.

The laws allow facial recognition technology to be used to identify individuals who participate in any such event or gathering.

For instance, if you were to participate in a Pride March or a peaceful protest against homophobia, facial recognition would be used to subsequently identify and arrest you to face consequences.

The 'excuse' for these new laws, as written into the laws, is 'child protection'.

Yes. You heard right.

The Fidesz Party, lead by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, supported by their coalition partners, the Christian Democrats, voted in the new laws 136 votes for to 27 against, using child protection as their base argument.

Viktor Orbán has been Prime Minister for a long time and when you consider other facts about him, it's no surprise that these homo/transphobic laws have come about.

FACT : Under his Prime Ministership, Hungary is the only EU Member State not to sign an agreement to support Ukraine with regards to the current war there.

All other 26 EU Member States support Ukraine.

FACT : Viktor Orbán is a supporter of Trump (and the transphobia of the latter is already well established).

FACT : Viktor Orbán is a supporter of Putin. The current war in Ukraine was started by the latter and under his iron fist, Russia has homo/transphobic laws of their own.

On 28 June 2025, a Pride March is still going ahead in Budapest, despite the new laws.

Organisers are still pushing ahead as a protest against the laws.

We must stand firm in solidarity with all Orientation and Gender Identity Diverse folk in Hungary.

Which part of the world we live in, we must always unite to protect our identity rights, which are Human Rights.

It's totally annoying when people misuse the word 'pansexual', including any derivatives and as hashtags.

It's misused on adult-only websites/platforms, erroneously attributed to promiscuous behaviour and erotic group activity.

Individuals misuse it to promote their raunchy posts on social media, dating apps and other platforms.

Being pansexual or pansexuality as an Orientation is far from that mythical perception.

Simply having a genderblind attraction does not mean engaging in intimate acts with anyone, everyone and with multiple people simultaneously.

Attraction to all is merely a possibility; a Pansexual individual will still have their own preferences and compatibility issues when it comes to relationships.

They aren't going to be attracted to every other human in existence nor want to be intimate with every other possible person.

Having possible attraction to all Gender Identities simply means that they are open to a wider range of people to choose from.

Most importantly, personality is usually the determining factor, not body parts.

Many lazily use the prefix 'pan', which can confusing when it's not confirmed if pansexuality or panromanticism is being referenced.

This can create some offence towards or misunderstanding of, the Panromantic cohort.

Panromantics are mostly a platonic bunch, with very little or no sexual interest in the majority of the cohort.

Individuals and organisations need to use these terms responsibly as incorrect use contributes towards misunderstanding, which leads to hatred and discrimination.

Today is Human Rights Day, commemorated every year on 10 December.

It's the day in 1948 when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.

There's a whole range of Human Rights that we are entitled to.

These include the right to life, the right to recognition as a person, the right to rest and leisure, the right to education and the right to be protected from discrimination by law.

Governments don't always uphold these rights, even if in a country that is a signatory to the Declaration.

Gender Pay Gaps exist, despite equal pay being a human right.

Homophobia and Transphobia exist, which is discrimination and also impacts on the right of freedom of expression.

The theme for 2024 is:

Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.

Human Rights are ours for the protecting, not only for the present but for the sake of our future.

Any gains we make in fighting for Human Rights must be protected from being lost.

(The loss of abortion rights in some jurisdictions is an example.)

In order to protect our Human Rights for our future and of future generations, we need to act right now.

It can't wait or it might be too late.

Fighting for our human rights is necessary because of the actions of Governments and political leaders.

You are entitled to equality, regardless of how you identify, if you have disability or of a particular age, skin colour, social status or ethnicity.

You are entitled to decide how to identify, based on the Gender Identity you are, regardless of body parts, characteristics or names/labels given at birth.

You are entitled to decide how to identify, based on your natural attraction to other humans, without interference or influence by other individuals, groups or organisations or any discriminatory legislation.

Disability rights are Human Rights.

Anti-Discrimination rights are Human Rights.

Equality rights are Human Rights.

Gender Identity rights are Human Rights.

Orientation rights are Human Rights.

It's Pansexual Pride Day once again.

A day for the Pansexual/Panromantic cohort to celebrate our orientation and be proud.

How you celebrate is up to you but we need to acknowledge that not everyone can celebrate with pride openly or at all.

Some might be able to celebrate subtly by wearing blue jeans, a yellow T-shirt and pink jacket or hat but some may not.

If you are closeted, even a subtle attempt might raise questions, since the Pansexual flag colours are known across social media.

Secretly celebrating might be in order, such as creating a digital Pansexual or Panromantic flag and inserting it into a microscopic corner of another image, then using that as a screen background for the day.

You can also do this in a physical manner by making a tiny flag, say 1cm × 1cm and carrying that in your purse, pocket or somewhere more discreet.

If you're lucky to have access to clothing, accessories or footwear which happens to have pink, yellow and blue as the main colours, you can get away with it a little easier.

(If you wear a school or work uniform, you won't be able to do this.)

Celebrate however you can, even if it's acknowledging yourself silently.

2023 has arrived!

2022 was certainly an eventful year, with war, all sorts of natural disasters and extreme weather events, a political circus, the continuing PANdemic, Monkeypox and various laws around the world that impacted on the global OAGID Community in both positive and negative ways.

Now that it's 2023, it's also a special year as it's the year of Sydney WorldPride, the first time WorldPride is being hosted in the Asia Pacific and the Southern Hemisphere.

As I've been telling for the past few years, I'm heavily involved in WorldPride, though not as much as I would have liked.

Still, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm using it to promote the Pansexual+ message.

WorldPride will come and go though my advocacy will continue.

OAGID matters will never cease as there is much to do and our human rights are still a long way off from being fulfilled.

Stay on the journey with me because we are all in this together.

It's Pansexual Pride Day!

We are ridiculed and harassed for our Orientation by both heterosexual and non-heterosexual people.

Regardless what we endure, remember that Pansexuality and Panromanticism are real identities.

We aren't 'special snowflakes' or bisexual but using a different label.

We might be invisible but we must be proud and seen.

We might endure attempts to silence us but we must have voices that are proudly loud.

Be Pansexual with Pride.

Be Panromantic with Pride.

11 October is National Coming Out Day (NCOD).

This celebration of identity originated in the USA but is now observed in several other countries.

NCOD is a day for celebration of coming out and supporting people in coming out.

Some people have been able to come out easily, some of them being readily accepted and others not.

Nevertheless, they've past the hurdle and their identity is known.

Whatever the case is, congratulations goes out to those who have already come out, especially if it wasn't an easy experience.

Some people want to come out and seek support in being able to do so.

It's not exactly a topic taught at school and for many, especially youth, they can't ask a parent or caregiver without giving the game away.

Others might simply hesitate from uncertainty how those they tell will react or not know how to actually go about it.

NCOD is an idea time to help those who really want to come out to fulfil this goal.

There's a third group of people that are very important to acknowledge.

Some people might want to come out but they are too afraid or their circumstances make it impossible to do so.

Reasons include family religious beliefs, homophobic/transphobic views of family, friends or peers, fear of loss of employment, fear of rejection by family/friends and fear of bullying and harassment.

For many of these people, coming out will have negative consequences and they can be any age, though there are a huge number that are in the under 18 bracket.

These younger people are dependent on others (usually parents, grandparents or foster parents) for the bare necessities of life, have no legal autonomy in most cases and even experience the real threat of homelessness or horrific abuse by extreme parental views.

Whilst it is a day today focused on celebrating and supporting coming out, this acknowledgement of those circumstantially unable to come out is crucial.

Safety and survival always takes priority over coming out.

To anyone wanting to come out, whatever your circumstances may be, only ever come out if you believe it is safe to do so.

This is not to discourage you from making the revelation but rather for you to consider what sort of consequences there might be and make an informed choice whether to go ahead or stay silent.

Staying silent doesn't need to be forever, such as if one becomes of age to gain autonomy and a home of their own.

It can simply be a temporary measure for survival until coming out is safe enough for the individual concerned.
