I just died in a horrible accident
2025 freshman orientation: ok everyone let’s go around with our name, pronouns, and if we’re an alpha beta or omega
Tbhxers how are we feeling about episode 1
"died and came back wrong" nah, died and came back an entirely different guy. like actually, that's just some random other dude. where did you get him

this was so awesome
It was all a fucking sham. Someone here called it: they'd be "down" a shortwhile, then Trump (the same Trump who started the whole idea to ban it in the first place) would "come in and save TT". Watch the only mass social media in the us not property of an American company get bought out anyways, and Trump to go in history not as a censor, but as a "saviour of tik tok"
Can't wait to hear about how the algorithm changes in the next few months to push a pro-American Nationalist narrative and ruthlessly suppress anyone speaking out of line.
Oh, yeah, I'm not investing in pushing our business on TikTok Shop anymore, to put it mildly.
Just a reminder to everyone here. The banning was shitty. The almost certain enshittification of tiktok to a right-wing platform the way twitter went is fucked. This is ALSO being done as theater. Trump has plans for massive immigration raids this week and wants to use tiktok as a distraction to keep everyone’s focus off his upcoming human rights abuses. What the raids will ential, idk, but we gotta keep our eyes on the ball. I’m not chicagoan, so idk what’s there. Idk if there IS anything we can meaningfully do right now. But if you are local, find orgs who are doing the work on the ground to fight this battle and see if u can volunteer your time, or donate, or do anything meaningful. Spread the word to non-locals about what orgs can use their money to help. See if there are protests being organized you can join. Be prepared to film EVERYTHING, stream and record simultaneously if possible to try and ensure multiple copies exist in case people try and scrub it.
Isn't filming protests a bad idea? like because of the risk of identifying protestors?
Yes and no. Filming events as they occur can help identify protestors but it's also often the only way of pushing back against official narratives, and cops are going to be cops.
Just recently, there was a trans man who was pulled over by police bc he flipped a cop off while driving past the cop who was on another call - doing that is absolutely protected speech, btw - and the cop abandoned that call, raced after the trans guy, dragged him out of his car and beat the shit out of him, then reporting that the guy assaulted him, pulled a weapon, etc. The trans man lost his job as a teacher, was charged, etc., and it was a security camera that caught the cop in his lie and exonerated his victim. Without that video, he would probably be in jail.
So like... there are risks to everything. Protestors need to cover their tattoos and observe anonymizing protocols, basic opsec. And then, yeah, we need to be able to challenge the official narratives with proof. If you aren't comfortable putting your stuff online, then don't, but make sure it's backed up multiple offline places.
dont get me wrong this is #mood but just try eating a piece of bread with salt. please, seriously. ok? at least a tiny bit. salt helps with nausea, bread calms the stomach acid. if you really can’t face eating anything, just lick some salt like a damn elk, then wait and see if you can manage the bread. make some broth if you’re into that kind of thing. no spices, yes salt. if you’re feeling too weak and shaky to do much, just have a cup of tea with sugar (energy) and lemon (again, good against nausea). nibble on the lemon first, it will feel good, but don’t overdo - citric acid on an empty stomach is a majorly bad idea. take care of yourself, you’re the only you we’ve got

You'll never know how strong you are until strength is your only option."
From the heart of Gaza, these words become more true than ever. I am Bilal Abed Rabou, and I stand before you as a survivor of five wars, an academic student at Al-Azhar University and a software developer from the besieged Gaza Strip. I witnessed the devastating effects of these conditions firsthand

We were a family, living in peace, love and warmth. But everything changed when conflict and despair swept through our lives. Living in Gaza means confronting ongoing conflict, struggling against poverty and the lack of basic necessities to live. Life is very difficult, and even the simplest tasks seem impossible. Yet, despite all the chaos and pain, we remained grounded by the warmth of our love and the strength of our spirits.
Even six months ago, everything changed. Our once home turned into a mess and everything we cherished. Since then, we have been lost, clinging to a world of uncertainty and despair. We left our badly damaged home with only a few things. Since then, our lives have been threatened
with every passing minute.
But now, there is no longer a reason to stay in this place full of suffering, where we are deprived of even the most basic and important rights, education, security and peace.
Our hearts hurt because of all this injustice. We were willing to endure anything to keep our family together and provide comfort and care for our father in his time of need.
With each passing day, our despair grows and our burdens grow heavier. We need your help to break the cycle of suffering, rebuild our shattered dreams, pave the way to a better future, and reunite with our family. Your support is not just a lifeline; Rather, it is a beacon of hope in our darkest moments.
Here you will find our whole story

Please take a moment to read this. A Canadian company wants to build a sulfide copper mine near Lake Superior, which holds 21% of the world’s freshwater. The mine would produce 98.5% toxic waste, stored in a dam just two miles from the lake. The dam can only withstand a 1-in-100-year storm, but the area has had two 1-in-1,000-year storms in the past decade. If it breaks, toxic water could flood the lake. Copper sulfide mines in the U.S. have consistently contaminated nearby water sources, and this mine could hurt local communities with lower employment, income, and property values. The company wants $50 million in taxpayer funding to move forward. The Michigan Senate is about to vote, if they don’t get the funding they can’t build it.

Protect the Porkies, Protect Lake Superior— Stop the Copperwood Mine!

Crowds of families, tourists and local folks paused on that sunny Saturday in September, watching the group curiously as it passed. Was this a protest or a celebration, they wondered. It was neither. It was ceremony, a walking prayer of gratitude and acknowledgement of the essential role clean water plays in life on the planet. Such a message would seem to offer a universal spiritual appeal. But deep in the Upper Peninsula’s mining country where generations of European immigrants have depended on digging copper and iron ore from the earth for more than a century, such a prayer had a whiff of blasphemy.
“This goes all the way back to the 19th century with fur trading, timber, iron and copper mining; if there’s any environmental fallout the folks who ran the operation aren’t around to pay for the cleanup,” said Tom Grotewohl, a resident of Wakefield Township and founder of Protect the Porkies, a nonprofit organization opposing the mines that draws its name from the Porcupine Mountains, known as the Porkies, in the Upper Peninsula.
“Mining is a false tradition,” Grotewohl told ICT. “A tradition is something that everyone can benefit from and share equally.” The Copperwood Mine Project is emblematic of a global struggle to address climate change and support the clean energy industry without further damaging the environment and treading on Indigenous rights. The demand for energy transition minerals such as copper, lithium, cobalt and nickel disproportionately affects Indigenous peoples and lands.
From the link, major concerns associated with this project:
Copper being shipped to Canada — so it won't help with Michigan electrification goal;
Highland Copper is an inexperienced company which has never developed a mine —and we are expected to trust them with their very first mine next to not only a beloved State Park, but in unprecedented proximity to Lake Superior?
Volatility in copper prices — very unstable industry leading to frequent shutdowns and unemployment
$50 million would nullify almost all of the Severance Tax the company would be paying to compensate the State for the permanent loss of minerals
After ten years, the company still has only 10% of funding — if the project is such a slam dunk, where are all the private investors?
"who radicalized you" ever since i was a child i wanted other people to be treated nicely and fairly because i didnt understand why theyd deserve otherwise and it fills me with disgust seeing how people treat their fellow human beings sometimes
legit the ultimate radicalization engine is kids cartoons with basic-ass messages like “make sure everybody is included” and “just because somebody lives different from you doesn’t mean you can’t get along” like fucking kindergarten level shit about how sharing is good and lying is bsd
truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if she’s perhaps worried she’s a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and that’s enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said she’s here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then she’ll make another one. I said “isn’t it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?” and she just looked at me funny and said “what do you mean? The whole world was here, waiting”. Some people, I tell you.
