(via Undecided Voter)
Its true...
Ask your pharmacist a question this month! They're very knowledgeable folks ;)
how hard were your chemistry labs in college?
Depends on your knowledge base and willingness to put in work. The concepts can be challenging to grasp, but putting in the time and effort to learn will take you very far.
I found organic to be a little bit easier than general chemistry, just because if you practice enough pushing of atoms, it becomes second nature.
WHOA....Its been so long since I've posted, that tumblr's gotten a facelift.
I'm suffering from Olympic Fever!!
I can't get enough. Hence the sporadic posts. But I will soon be back my fellow pharm-nerds!!
I received this question recently, and wish to share it with you budding soon to be pharmacy students
Question: Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me if I have a chance at getting into the pharmacy program this spring- I have a 2.3 GPA and I'm going into my 3rd year of pre-pharmacy courses, I've been retaking some generals to bring my GPA up. I'm also active in health-related clubs on campus because they said they were looking for a well-rounded student. Do you think I'll even be considered for their program? I worry my GPA is too low. They look for a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Answer: Hey, thanks for visiting and asking!
To answer your question you may have a chance, but it might not be the best chance. Some questions that I need answered:
What kind of pharmacy school is it, 6 year or 4 year program? If it is a 6 year program, do they normally accept transfer students?
How are your PCAT scores?
What is your Science GPA. I ask because 2 and 3 can boost a low overall GPA.
If you are not strong in the sciences or maybe you just had a bad semester, address that in your personal statement. It sucks when a student writes a personal statement about their love of pharmacy, but then doesn't explain why they got a D or an F one semester. Giving us insight as to what caused your grades allows us to judge you based on you and not on just a document full of letters and numbers.
If you retake classes, make sure you get an A. If you can't get an A don't bother. Most schools average your 2 scores. So a C + A = B, but a C + B = C+ That really doesn't help you, does it?
is pharmacy school really hard? i have a 4.0 gpa and 1700 sat score & i'm freaking out :( ...
Of Course its hard...you wouldn't be receiving a doctorate degree if it weren't. The key is to not freak out, but to figure out how to study and digest the material in a way that is not overwhelming for you.
HS is nothing compared to college and college is nothing compared to pharmacy school. As long as you don't assume that it will be a breeze because HS was you'll be fine!!
Study hard and seek help when you need it!!
