INTRODUCING... PHIGHTING FEELINGS!

Have you ever wanted to kiss a Phighting character? Well look no further! A Phighting dating simulator, where you'll get to romance every Phighter in Crossroads (and maybe some more!).

This is a free fanmade project! It is a visual novel and sidescroller formatted game made in Godot.

New team members!

Hello! You may have recently seen my post about recruiting more people on the team, and after careful consideration, we've got a proper team working on the game! My sincerest thank you's to everyone who applied or spread the word.

Now, to introduce the newest team members!

MINOR UPDATE!

Hello! Back here with a small update.

If you are thinking of applying as either an artist or a writer, please message this account privately!

I'll discuss more details over there, but basically I just need proof that you can write or draw. After that I'll select who I'd think would be the best fit for the job.

Specifically, I am looking for artists who can provide rough drafts on sprites or writers who can write dialogue. Do not worry if you do not know how to draw pixel art or write scripts as I will be able to teach you!

Hi! This is from floofiekins, the solo developer for Phighting Feelings. I'm coming out here to ask a couple things from you, my lovely community who's been supporting me making this project this entire time!

Number one is that it's not sustainable for me to work on this all by myself.

My life is soon to get busy with work again and I need artists and writers to assist me in production. I'll still be the main developer taking on all the work, but it'd be nice to offload some of the work, especially with such a large roster of characters spanning 5 days worth of dialogue. Please keep an eye out for that.

Number two is that I may open up a way to accept donations soon.

NOT FOR THE GAME!!! Please understand that the game will never, ever require money to play. It will forever be 100% free based off Boggio's terms on making fangames (and rightfully so! Boggio deserves all the support they can get).

These will be personal donations to me and I'll give back to those who donated with either commissioned art or writing. If I were to do this, would you all prefer Ko-fi or Patreon?

UPDATE!

SAVES FINALLY DONE!

If you've been keeping up with our updates, you'd know that the save system was one of the hardest things to do. Now it's finally been conquered! The only things needed left for the save system are a couple of other features, then touch ups.

Character customization has also been going well, being shockingly easy compared to the mountain that was save systems. It'll be over incredibly quickly, and we're happy to announce a good amount of customization options.

There will be edits to make this menu more visible! So don't worry if you can't see it well.

The only things left besides character customization are revamping the interaction system, adding the call system, putting sprites in the dialogue, and having our betatesters play the game! Thank you for your continued support as we work on completing this game.

Hii~ I also want to make a game, mostly by myself... so can I ask a few questions? Do you hire people or ask your friends to help? Do you need expensive computers to program it? And... is the software you use to make the game is hard to use? I want to know but I'm afraid to bother. Thank you and take care! ^^

This is entirely independently run. All who's working on Phighting Feelings as of writing this is just me, myself, and I. Occasionally I'll run by things with my friends for ideas, but besides that this is entirely done by me. If you'd like to hire someone to help, you should check out Casting Call Club! Really helpful website where you can post basically job listings and a description of your project to get some people to join in.

You do not need an expensive computer! I just use a plain laptop. All you need is a little bit of storage to keep the stuff you make for the game like assets, sounds, and code.

I use Godot. I found the initial learning curve a bit hard, but there are tons of tutorials out there to help out and also loads of add-ons to make things simpler. It's hard to describe the difficulty because there are some parts that are easy, while the hard parts are extremely hard. But it's entirely dependent on the person, and what might be hard for me might be easy for you. It also helped that I had previous experience coding.

Outside the questions you asked, I'd like to give my own personal advice. Do not start off big. Start off with just focusing mainly on the gameplay mechanics before fleshing out details. Overall, good luck with your game and I wish you the best!

Can you give us a update on the progress of the game please? And maybe about when it is coming out

Currently, the game is going well! We're still working on figuring out a custom save system but we're nearly done with it. We've completed the settings page as well! So right now, all we've got left is the save system and the character customization.

There is no set due date on when it's coming out but hopefully sometime during the late summer, but no promises on that.

Also, a quick reminder that this is a free game. As much as we understand that you all are looking forward to this, please do not rush us or pressure us into making this. It will come out someday, so don't worry!

this game is ADORABLE i cannot wait to play around with it!!! question though…. why pass up the opportunity to call this phighting PHeelings??!!!??

While it could be funny, it doesn't look as good as a title in our eyes because of how clunky it looks with the PH in both words making them the same length, which looks less nice than the uneven Phighting Feelings. For me personally, it's a bit of an overused joke and is hard to read. I took a lot of time into thinking of the title, so this response was a bit of a rant. Thank you for the question!

Team chocolate was actually in a phestival(Vanilla vs chocolate) with Dom representing it! I'm a big chocolate fan so I'm actually very happy about this lol!!!!

Funnily enough, it was actually unintentional to have a Phestival theme that coincided with previous Phestival themes (chocolate vs vanilla, roses vs violets). The theme was just too good for us to resist though and we ended up going for it anyways! We're happy you enjoy it and good luck on being on team chocolate!

Valk was rather easy to design, the only issue being debating between a more Lolita fashion style or a Shoujo Girl style. We ended up going with the latter because it felt more fitting for a casual date that Valk would prefer.

On the other hand, Dom was much more difficult to design. You can see in the reference photos that we originally planned for a more flowy dress with Greek inspiration, but we couldn't get it to work out and ended leaning towards a wedding dress instead. It ended up working out, giving Valk and Dom a contrasting vibe of casual date vs. serious marriage.

Phestival theme revealed!

So, are you TEAM CHOCOLATE? or TEAM FLOWERS?

VALK: "It's been a while, hasn't it Phighters? But we're here and we've got some exciting news!"

DOM: "Flipside's got a new Phestival for you all. Are you all ready?"

VALK: "Prepare your dates, because the teams are Chocolate or Flowers!"

VALK: "Chocolates are way better for a date! They're sweet, easy to eat, and come in multiple flavors."

VALK: "Plus, you can make homemade chocolates! Isn't that just the sweetest?"

DOM: "Really? I think flowers make for a more romantic gesture."

DOM: "Different flowers can have different meanings to express your love and care."

DOM: "The thought behind a carefully planned bouquet feels more personal than just some sweets."

VALK: "Really? "Just some sweets"? I'm pretty sure I saw you stealing and eating some of MY chocolates last week!"

DOM: "...We should get on with the Phestival."

VALK: "Ugh, fine! But we'll be talking about this later!"

UPDATE!

Backgrounds done!

Recently, we've been pretty busy with IRL stuff so we haven't been able to work on things. However, we do have some things to report!

Backgrounds are 100% done! We've only got two locations for the demo, and they're completely completed.

Save/load system is about 80% done. We've taken some time off of working on it to focus on other things.

Settings system is about 15% done. We have the frameworks in place, but nothing concrete yet.

Once we're done with the save system and setting system, we'll be able to implement music and character customization! Afterwards, it's just bug testing from there. Once again, thank you for your continued support as we work on this game.
