Play helps children build problem solving skills, creativity, social understanding, and emotional balance. Unstructured play time allows children to explore and learn naturally.
healthy behaviour
Teaching children what to do instead of what not to do supports learning. Positive reinforcement encourages healthy behaviour more effectively than fear.
children / teenagers understand boundaries
Age appropriate rules help children / teenagers understand boundaries. When expectations are clear and consistent, children / teenagers feel safer and more confident.

Community events with Phil Child Care Foundation (PCCF)
When children are truly listened to and given a voice, their world opens up. At Phil child Care Foundation (PCCF) our events have brought tears, laughter and, most importantly, a deep sense of unity.
Learning computers early
Learning computers early helps kids build confidence with technology, solve problems and think creatively. It also opens the door to future skills while keeping learning fun. By ages 8 to 12, kids are ready for a bit more independence. It’s the perfect time for typing practice, simple coding games, safe online research and building good digital habits.
Subsidized child care removes barriers
When child care is too expensive, parents are forced to make tough choices. Subsidized child care removes barriers so parents can stay employed, continue their education or get back on their feet. It also gives kids the early learning opportunities they deserve. Investing in families is investing in our future.
Kids should play in the sand
Kids should play in the sand because it helps them learn through hands-on exploration. When they dig, scoop, pour and build, they’re strengthening their fine motor skills without even noticing. Sand play also sparks imagination. A pile of sand can turn into a road, a mountain, a cake or anything they dream up.
It’s also calming. The texture and rhythm of moving sand around can help kids relax and stay focused. And when they play with others, they learn to share space, take turns and work together. It’s simple play, but it supports a lot of healthy development.
Affordable child care
Affordable child care isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline for families who are doing their best to work, study and build stable futures. Subsidized child care gives parents breathing room and gives children a safe place to learn and grow. Every community is stronger when families have real support.
Children safety while online
Parents play a huge role in keeping Canadian children safe while they explore the online world. Talk with them about what they’re watching, set healthy boundaries and stay involved in their digital life. A few minutes of guidance can make a real difference in their safety and confidence online
State of the family 2025
Two decades ago it was possible for families to live on a single income but in 2025 it has become almost impossible to survive on low income wages. As the cost of goods and services is going up, low income families are feeling it the most. Parents have to give up time with their family and put in more time at work
“Thank you to everyone who has supported Phil Child Care Foundation (PCCF) over the years. A special thank you to
