Another good one gone
Daily Reading - Thursday 15.08.24
On the left is today’s reading and on the right yesterday’s, I don’t usually compare because as we know ‘comparison is odious’, but as the solution card is the same it seemed interesting. The star is there as openness and renewal, the two of wands as the tension between adventure and responsibility and the two of swords is a separation from others or deep inner state. My partner will be gone for three weeks starting tomorrow so it feels fitting that I find solace and strength in the time I will be spending alone (with the cat of course).
Daily Reading - Tuesday 13.08.24
I found myself struggling to read these as pertaining to my day as opposed to life more generally. 9 of Cups is smug, self satisfied and enjoys what he has. 5 of Cups is sorrowful at what has been wasted and 2 of Swords,” closes herself off from others, out of fear or in an effort to find inner awareness. To me this reading speaks of having the idea of satisfaction then having it taken away with the solution being to look inside myself.
Daily Reading - Monday 12.08.24: Starting from a place of acknowledged grief and climbing towards the ease and carelessness of the Page, who looks back while moving forward, and finally the Devil, who shows the trap of fear and the freedom of understanding one’s own agency.. not sure how this relates to me in particular but I like the reading none the less.
Working at the bookshop today so just studying
(In case you wanted to see what the bookshop looks like)
Friday 09.08.24 Daily Reading: well well well, it seems I’ve draw both the yin and yang in the High Priestess and Magician, as well as a knight for some adventurous action. Seeing opportunity in adversity through the knight, being able to contemplate the situation through the High Priestess and having the ability to make the seemingly impossible happen through the Magician. I’ll take this as an indication of positivity and the value of contemplation paired with action. Happy Friday!
Thursday 08.08.24 Daily Reading - Nothing like getting the fool first thing in the morning, though I’m choosing to read it as a ‘respect for the nature of who I am’. The ace of swords then swoops in to remind me of a main quest line task. I’m not sure how broadly I want to read that but for today I’m going to make sure I trust myself to get things done in my own way, because that’s also how the star can be read. I particularly like the connection between confidence and confiding, and the power of confiding in yourself.
Tuesday 06.08.24 - Daily Reading: Well this is interesting. Judgment as the current situation, the knight of pentacles as the trial and the fool as the solution. As I do struggle with concentration (read dedication and consistency) of the knight, the fool’s spontaneity is likely the only way that I’ll get things done anyway. If judgment is read as great change then it’s a situation for sure.
Monday 05.08.24 - A daily reading. Today seems to be about the ability to tackle a big task without looking for recognition (I’d say without expecting immediate gratification) while struggling to focus energy. The VIII is particularly interesting as the danger is a lack of focus. Let’s see how I get on.

‘To him Bird was truly Charlie Parker, a man, a silent note going out forever on the breath of genius which now I hear soaring above my own breath as this bright morning fades into afternoon. Music, I'll call it music. It's what we need as the sun staggers behind the low gray clouds blowing relentlessly in from that nameless ocean, the calm and endless one I've still to cross.’
Excerpt from ‘Call It Music’
BY PHILIP LEVINE
The best thing for being sad
“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, “is to learn something. That’s the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”
