I Find Peace in the Rain

I find peace in the rain. It is the only thing that makes me feel something other than pain. It washes away my guilt and hurries it through the gutter and down the drain. The sound of the rain drowns out the sound of my heart shattering. The rain trickles down my face and over my skin, replacing the saltwater from my eyes. The rain calms me and reminds me that everything in life comes in cycles. The rain cycles through the sky and I cycle from one broken relationship to the next. One day, I will find someone for me and the cycle will stop, yet the rain will not. The rain will continue to come but the angst and the pain that it once washed away, will be filtered out and it will not return. The rain will wash it away one last time and it will never find me again. I find peace in the rain because it allows for a fresh, clean start.
