Introduction Post

Hi! I wanted to make a sort of clearer introduction post on who I am, so hi! I'm Riley/Phoenix. I go by He/They pronouns. I am a 20 year old college student from the US, currently double majoring in Linguistics and Political Science, and minoring in Human Rights.

I am a soon to be content creator for linguistics content, and once that is started I will share my page on my blog and on this post.

Some things about me:

I am (pretty obviously) queer and neurodivergent.

I am a Doctor Who lover.

I'm a massive theatre kid, to the point of annoyance.

I am a Sci-Fi lover in general. I love Star Wars especially.

I love music and I sing and play piano.

I can solve a Rubik's Cube.

I knit and do Tarot readings (for myself, not typically for others).

I love Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

I have a vinyl record player that I barely use, but still love.

I'm left handed.

Anyways that's a good and basic summary of me, now onto what this blog is about. On here, I post things I love. Mainly, I post about Doctor Who, and my reaction to episodes as I watch them. However, I also post artwork in Sherman's Gallifreyan, and will post about other things as well, like what I made for dinner or my favorite ships. At the top of my page there is a question's page, where you can ask me anything, including questions about Gallifreyan, or artworks you may want to see.

Hey @leptrois (or anyone else) Can you give me a dumbed down explanation of leptivity for a linguistics major?

I find it really interesting, but also really hard to really understand, and as a queer nerd I really feel like I should understand it. I have lots of questions like:

What makes a gender leptive vs. not leptive? (asking because the gender wiki shows things like masculitrois, which is described as a masculine gender that is also leptive.)

Would taking my gender and mapping it out on a multi-dimensional grid be a form of leptivity? (e.g. I have an axis for masculinity, an axis for femininity, an axis for genderqueerness, and an axis for intensity, and let's say each one goes to 100, my gender might be at the point (59, 20, 69, 30) (this was based on vibes but feels fairly close to how I might grid my gender), would that be leptivity?)

Is there a comprehensive list of all the gender leptivity terms?

Are there any really good youtube videos or tiktoks on it that I can look at?

How would I go about creating my own gender leptivity terms?

I'm very curious about this aspect of MOGAI labels, yet I'm very confused, so I'd love some info on it

Hi. Im only seeing your post now.

it can be a simple descriptive and qualitative way of thinking about interdisciplinary associations. For masculitrois or feminitrois, I coined those terms as umbrella terms, for anyone who wants it, in which feminine or masculine genders are inherently that regardless of the leptarity, for example. But you can use it in any way according to your imagination. Just as you can use neutrois plainly as a gender instead of using math or multidisciplinarity.

I guess people already do that in graphs like this. While as termless concept (moneme), it isn’t necessarily. But when a quantitative gender term is coined, it can be seen as within leptative territory. However, polygenders or demigenders aren’t necessarily leptive. Since you mentioned the term axis, it seems to me that youre restricting your application to the gender spectrums or using your own system, which then sounds like a form of leptary way to understand your gender. I guess that since Im not thinking of already-made collection or family of terms that fit this description.

I just searched for it. It sounds like trans wikia had many genders, but gender wikioasis has a category. Ive seen someone compiling many terms there before, more than within this category, some of which are listed in individual articles. lgbtqia.wiki has a category too.

I’m going to be honest. I was kind of minimalistic in the scope of the leptrois terms. When I was being gibberish I was trying to make them more subjective, in a way that anyone could expand it however they want. I like that @your-bigender-big-brother has reacted to some terms I coined via YouTube or blog essays, even when criticizing, because I like being reacted to, negatively or not. But it’s not like someone talked specifically about it, everyone would have a different understanding and feel shy to express it, but I like when others tell me their own inputs about leptivity, then I can understand it in other ways too. Anyone can arbitrate their own gender, even in ways that for others would be contradictory. I guess that’s idea behind leptivity: be bold and imagine your gender mathematically, because that’s nonsense for exorsexists.

You can base in preexisting terms to have a guess. I coined this “system” (I still dont know the best word for it) based on neutrois, and the terms positive and negative from @espectrometria-nao-binaria, which were based on genderpositive and gendernegative. Many people reacted badly about their terms, and so they did to mine, because they thought we were redefining the scope of neutrois. But it’s awhile since Ive received those attacks.

Thanks for asking. Maybe one day I will explain my terms better in detailed videos. I urge this since some years, but I still dont have the energy and dont know much about televising myself.

I've been researching and slowly building a neocities site on leptivity. It isn't finished so I haven't been advertising it or anything but I can share if you'd like. Everything has references to your posts and everything

I've also been experimenting with leptivity in my own gender a bit and I'm hoping I'm doing it right? When I mentioned the graphing idea I had a specific concept in mind of using a multidimensional graph that lets you have like as many descriptors as you feel necessary for your gender that you can rank on like a positrois-negatrois scale in order to have a super arbitrary mathematical system to explain gender. It's also on the leptivity site I'm working on

This concept is so interesting to me and I'm so glad I'm understanding it a bit more

5. Numbers

For the record, in the post I linked above there is a link to the tutorial by Loren Sherman, which should probably be treated as the reference point. But since I had so much trouble with it myself when I first saw it, here's an explanation for mere mortals.

Numbers are a bit more complicated, but do not fret, I will walk you through it. First of all, obviously, numbers are circles with lines and dots. Each line is a 1, each dot is a 5.

Zero is a plain circle, as you can probably imagine...

5.1. 10 and above

That's for numbers 0-9, but what about the rest. It's only ten out of infinity after all!

Well, in bigger numbers you stack circles and read them outer to inner.

With 15, the outer circle has a line (1) and inner has a dot (5). With 64 the outer circle has a dot and a line (5+1=6) and the inner has four lines (1+1+1+1=4).

For the lines, as per usual, it doesn't matter if they go outside or inside, as long as they end or begin on the circle that they belong to. If they cross it, it doesn't count.

When it comes to dots, I usually place them outside the circle they belong to, but you can also put them on the line. Technically dots can also overlap with other circles (check out the original tutorial), but for me it causes too much confusion and mess, so I stick to the clearer version - either on or outside the circle.

5.2. Placement in context

Just like with words, you close the numbers in a circular "frame" to show that it's a separate entity. Here are a few examples of designs with numbers that I made.

As you can see, with the last one, I placed 221 in a word together with B, mostly because when we write it normally, we do so without space (221B rather than 221 B). I still put the number in a frame though.

As always, the details are mostly up to you, as long as your design remains readable. The grey zones that Sherman's rules omit is where we have fun!

These ads are actually really predatory and incredibly isolating for people. I haven’t gotten a lot, but the ones I’ve seen are creepy as all hell, encouraging people to recreate mutuals as chatbots because they can reply faster. And as someone who’s been down that rabbit hole before, using c.ai to “talk” to characters, I can tell you how draining it really is on your mental health. Someone’s gotta help stop this. Someone’s gotta help keep others from getting hurt.

1) I like coming into school on my free periods, unless I can finish school early then I go home but I actually like coming in like 2 hours before my lessons start because basically no one is in the common room and I can chill.

2) I dont have pillows on my bed, like zero only blankets, so I can curl around them and that way there is no gaps in my blanket nest :p
