I made a blog and attached a gallery on last week’s events here in the Fort. This is something I think I’m going to try and keep up with on my site. Let me know what you think.

Hey peoples
I’m sorry I haven’t been very active on here in the recent weeks, but that’s going to change. I’ve been going through the process of turning my photography into a business - making websites, cards, pages - and haven’t had much time for a social media presence.
But I’ll be on a lot more with blog posts and photo updates really trying to get this to take off.
If you’d like to see my online portfolio, check out my site. It’s not complete as I’ll be compiling and adding a lot more photos in the coming days / weeks. But it’s definitely a start.
So I’m going to set a tone for this blog I think
First, let me start by saying what art is to me: Art is the opening of dialogue. Art is an individual saying “this is how I perceive the world, what say you?”
Recently I watched a video on YouTube of someone that I subscribed to and something kind of hit me a little bit. He took two cameras, one old, well-used, and cheap and one brand new, and way out of most of our price ranges. And, after post-processing, most people actually preferred the cheaper camera. As someone that’s behind a camera nearly daily, I could tell immediately which photo was from which camera. But there’s another thing that was said: basically to paraphrase, “it’s not about the camera, it’s about the feeling behind it and the observer.” That part it was stuck with me the most.
Throughout my history of photography, I have always had a deep feeling in my photos. I have always put out photos with a purpose of communication. But also throughout my life, I have had a massive problem with legitimate communication. I don’t really do it. I’m uncomfortable with my emotions being in the open. I hide myself behind images. I post it on my social media and listen. To be completely honest, I listen to see if my work is valid. To see if what I see is also what someone else sees. To see if it’s good or if people enjoy it, and also to see the reaction. To study those who view it. I guess almost as a way of validating my humanity...
I feel that through my observation I’ve gained a viewpoint that I would like to share with anyone that will listen.
So, this is my journey through my camera. This is how I view my world and what it means to me.
I’m not in the business of photography. I don’t really want to sell my work nor do it as a business. But I want to make my mark with it, even if it’s with just a handful of people. So, what I’m going to try to do is to continue to take photos often, but forcing myself to write about them. At least once a week I’m going to write about one of my photos and, in detail, force myself to express exactly what that photo means to me and the dialogue I wish to portray with it.
*insert nervous excitement*
