This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.

Also, I don’t mean to be cynical, but if you’re wondering why tumblr would institute a policy they’re not staffed to fully enforce and bots that can’t reach the complexity necessary…
They don’t actually NEED it to work.
They don’t need porn to be gone from Tumblr.
They certainly don’t need (or seem to care) that pornbots be gone from Tumblr.
They don’t even need to block the generally right stuff.
They just need plausible deniability for investors, enough scaremongering and deletions to knock things down a few pegs for appearances sake, and the beauracratic leeway to delete users randomly and without warning if an issue ever comes up.
It’s the same thing they did when they got called for hosting stolen music—delete a bunch of blogs with and without warning, add some scary verbiage to their TOS, and mostly go right back to profiting off the users doing their thing—except for when they need to throw a few more sacrificial lambs under the bus.
Signal Boost.
The day is December 18th, I post a selfie wearing this shirt. There is a knocking on my door. It is our new overlord Tumblr AI. “yOuR pOsT hAs BeEn FlAgGeD aS eXpLiCiT,” it screams as it terminates not just my blog but me.

Archaeological Museum of Heraklion:
The snake goddesses’ figurines, the most important cult objects from the Knossos Temple Repositories. The center of the palatial cult was the “Central Palace Sanctuary“, an organized complex of cult rooms in the West Wing of the palace. In its crypts known as the “temple repositories” part of the religious treasure of the sanctuary was preserved, following the destruction of the palace circa 1600 B.C.
The most prominent items in the assemblage are the faience figurines of the famous “Snake Goddess”. Plaques bearing animal figures, plant motifs, marine creatures and astral symbols highlight the aspect of the goddess as the protector of nature. The assemblage also includes various inlays from wooden vessels, models of garments, miniature faience vessels and many large vases, both locally made and imported from the Cyclades.
The snakes on the figures symbolize the chthonic character of the cult goddess, while the feline creature on the head of the right figure at the top picture suggests her dominion over wildlife.
The goddesses wear luxurious garments, consisting of a long flounced skirt, an embroidered apron and a close-fitting bodice that exposes the large breasts, symbolic of the fertility of women, the goddess and by implication nature itself. The richly decorated model dresses may be copies of actual garments that were dedicated to the goddess.
Along with the statues a rock cross and a crystal rosette that are astral symbols were found. 1650-1550 B.C
Someone asked how tall the right top figure is, if I remember correctly, it’s a bit shorter than 30 cm.
Every time there are auto-flagging shenanigans I have to rush to the blog and request review on anything with flesh tones (mostly ceramics)…I can’t believe they missed this though- these are obviously female presenting breasts over here. However, they did not miss some neolithic coochie- which I shan’t reblog for modesty forbids it.

Being gay is no longer allowed on Tumblr.
They are flagging non-explicit content that has the mere MENTION of being gay.
We need to rally
This is LJ Strikethrough all over again. That shook our community up but we rallied. We made an archive of our own to keep ourselves safe. Now we need more. We need a social space. We need a place to share art, ourselves, and our daily lives.
This hellsite is kicking us off but honestly it was never intended for us from the start. This site doesn’t care about our privacy, our safety, and the support structure that fandom is for so many people.
Fandom is so much for so many people. Start planning. We need to make a move. Get contact info for your mutuals. Agree to keep your fandom name to wherever we go. Make discord or slack servers for your community in the interim.
There’s no guarantee of where we’ll end up, but we’ll get there. I’m imagining Dreamwidth or Pillowfort.io are the two most viable options. Reach out and get people in touch! Make a google spreadsheet for fandom contacts! Do something! Stay connected everyone. We will go on. This is my life’s research. Fandom is resilient. We will continue

Female figure without arms

FLAGGED by #OATH, the new #fascist #puritans of #Tumblr. WHERE SHALL WE ALL MOVE TO? Leave them with their pure-but-empty Tumblr for five-year-olds?
