‘ well, duh, it’s your fault for not looking properly. should’ve paid attention when you got the chance, slowpoke. ‘ jolyne argues back calmly while holding back laughter, she would’ve otherwise let out due to immaturity, she’s made a mess of the kitchen by dumping freezing water but the reaction was priceless enough to pay for the clean up she’d have to do.
to be fair she’s done many ( wrong ) things in an attempt to grab her father’s attention, it went far enough that the delinquent thought ending up in the police station for theft would have prompted him to fly back and scold her. her mother was lonely, many could have mistaken her for a single mother with how absent jotaro often was, from her perspective he only cared about work. work, work, work, no time for family.
‘ haven’t you been in colder waters? you’re always out studying the ocean and all that, man up. ‘
jotaro squints and rolls his eyes. “ didn’t anyone ever tell you to respect your elders ? ”
what he doesn’t mention is that he sympathizes with his daughter. growing up without a father was hard enough for him as a teenager. jotaro doesn’t think he can ever forgive himself for leaving his daughter for as long as he did. so many birthdays, too many first days of school missed. for someone with ( albeit reluctant ) control over time, he seems to have let it slip away before he even realized it was gone.
“ i think you’d be surprised how much of the job is just applying for grants... you know, in comparison to actually going into the water. if i was to acclimatize myself to cold water, i’d have to go in it at least two times a week. every week. haven’t really gotten the chance to. ”
