My name is Pier Giorgio Pacifici, I was born and raised in Italy, and moved to New York in 2011. I am a biologist by training, a business professional by career, and a self-taught photographer by passion. My ongoing projects focus on the details we see every day without ever really noticing them; and on exploring the world we so briefly visit during our journeys. Angel of Grief by Pier Giorgio Pacifici Via Flickr: The Weeping Angel was carved by W.W.Story in the nineteenth century, for the grave of his wife, Emelyn Story in the Non-Catholic Cemetery in Rome, Italy. It was his last sculpture before his own passing. This particular statue has become the inspiration behind the motif of the "angel of grief" used in tombstones across the world.
