Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but ☝️ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you
Mis-equaiting local geography/climate with climate change.
don’t get me wrong: climate change is real, and is heavily impacting the entire world, and all geographic zones within it, but I feel that many people, particularly stemming from western countries that have some warmer climate regions tend to misunderstand their local geography.
take where I live for example: the central valley of california. So often people where I live will go off on how “urgggh we only really have two seasons these days, hot and wet!!!”
and well, it’s definitely true that these seasons have been affected by climate change. Older people within my community have observed, first hand, how our summer season has lengthened over time, temperatures have on average risen, and our winters have shortened. And that is completely fucked up and 100% the result of climate change.
BUTT that doesnt change the fact that, yeah, actually we only really do have two seasons. Hot and wet. We are supposed to. We live in a MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE ZONE ALONG THE SAME LATITUDES AS COUNTRIES LIKE ITALY AND SPAIN.
I feel that culturally we have been way too influenced by the temperate countries that have created us and colonized the territories we live on today to think of the world as consisting of four, perfectly aligned seasons, and seeing deserts and tropical zones as being the acceptation to this rule.
the truth is, I don’t even think the majority of people on earth live in a climate zone like this. And yet, that is the culturally-induced amnesia so many people across the western world have been fed.
I know this sounds dramatic, but honestly I think this cultural influence has really made a mark on how we live today to a harmful degree.
Think of how many people in the USA, whether living along the temperate coasts of New England or in the literal Texan desert will plant lawns in their yard. The lawn grasses we plant are plants intended for much cooler, wetter climates. They stem from places like England for a reason— that’s where they EVOLVED!
Ignoring local climate causes us to make choices that disregard the places we live in— and that deeply damages our local environment! Think of how much better the world would be if instead of using vital water resources by pretending like grass is the end-all-be-all of all plant life, we actually payed attention to our local climate, geography, and ecology. Planting things that EVOLVED to live in the conditions that we live in.
in other words, maybe instead of pretending to live in an idealized world, we should live…where we live.

The fastest way to accomplish The Project is to cease being afraid of The Project. The Project cannot maim you. The Project cannot kill you. The Project is more afraid of you than you are of it. It is okay if The Project turns out differently from how it was in your head, and it is okay if it has flaws. You are capable of engaging with The Project.

perhaps watching a horror movie right before bed wasn't the best idea. granted you weren't even much of a fan of horror movies, but yoongi was and it was his turn to pick the movie for movie night so, here you were.
after the movie ended, you clung onto yoogni's sleeve as you walked through the house in the dark, your head snapping at any direction you saw movement in. he chuckled at your actions as he led you back towards your shared bedroom, where you all but jumped across the room onto the bed.
"did you really have to jump?"
"not risking it." you said, folding your arms over your chest. the lights didn't have to be on for you to know that yoongi was rolling his eyes at you.
"alright then." he huffed as he made his way over to his side of the bed, pulling back the covers to join you in bed. once beside you, you snuggled right up nex to him, snaking your arms around his torso to keep him close and as a slight protection from any sort of shadow demons that may lurk in the corners of the room (you were planning on sacraficing him to them if it came to that).
yoongi fell asleep in no time, leaving you alone in the dark, with no company but your own racing thoughts. your eyes darted to every corner of the room, scared that something might just pop out. there was no way you were going to be able to relax enough to fall asleep, not in the dark.
"yoongi," you whispered, poking at his chest. he continued sleeping. "yoongi!" you repeated, a bit louder this time.
"what?" he groaned, his eyes glassy from being woken up.
"can i go get the nightlight from the bathroom and use it in here in case any demons come to consume our souls while we sleep?" you asked.
yoongi slowly blinked at you. "well the probability of that is 0, but you go ahead, i guess." he sighed as he shut his eyes.
"probability is never 0, you should know that, you math wizard." you muttered as you grabbed your phone, using it as a flash light to light your way to the bathroom. taking the light from the outlet, you rushed back to the bedroom. shoving it into the plug in the corner of the room, it gave a small amount of illumination. just enough to ease your worries about the demons.
rejoining your boyfriend in bed, again you wrapped your arms around him again, resting your head on his chest. "night yoongi."
