"Spoken like a true detention veteran," Kimberly says. It's not a judgement so much as an observation. This was some random guy who shot webs. She sighs, "but if you think you can keep up...I wouldn't be opposed to some help."

Kimberly can't help the light snort she lets out at that. "Don't be too hard on yourself," she shrugs. "I don't think I would have seen this coming either." She's had far stranger days, with far bigger surprises, but even so -- it was always the more mundane surprises that seemed to trip her up even more than the rest.

It was a sentiment that Kimberly was familiar with, holding onto a weight that no one else knew how to carry. Or even just one that you refused to let anyone but yourself burden. It was rare to find someone who understood, someone who could help take some of that weight off your shoulders. She suspects there's plenty more that Jason still carried all by himself -- that he thinks he has to. "That's what I'm here for," she says, soft smile on her lips.
