Detective Pikachu honestly feels like a love letter to Pokemon fans. From the (probably) Red cameo right from the start to the blending of familiar tunes into the soundtrack. It really feels like you could pause it on any frame and find at least one reference or Easter egg.
When they play the Pokemon theme song not once, but twice in the movie
i agree with Tim tbh because i too would jump into a pokemon fighting ring against a rabid fire-breathing charizard in order to save my own pokemon from harm or death

Me, now addicted to reblogging as much Detective Pikachu content as possible: I can quit whenever I want to, these are just choices

my completely unbiased review of detective pikachu is that i NEVER wanted pokemon to be real SO BADLY in my life as much as i did while watching this movie
the fact that i’ll never be able to pet a fluffy pikachu because they don’t exist is a real tragedy

i love this movie
Something I really liked about Detective Pikachu (spoilers) is that when MewTwo is possessed by evil dude he uses his mouth to talk because that’s what humans do, but actual MewTwo uses his psychic abilities to speak with others. I thought that was a very good detail.
Detective Pikachu was pretty solid but the best part was this big tough shirtless trainer of a Charizard seeing his pokemon get hurt and going “*GASP* MY BABY! D8>”
