At the Beginning || pikesfirstofficer
Part of her politeness was based on knowing traditions and part knowing touching a Vulcan would reveal far too much as she was empathic as well. Most times she didn’t touch others for that reason. She wasn’t touch-psi like Vulcans, but it increased the sensitivity.
The first officer gave a nod to the new science officer. “Very well. If there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to speak to myself or the captain.”
First Contact || pikesfirstofficer
Considering this maybe a first contact situation, officially this time there was no way to hide this one, One gestured everyone else to stay behind. “You’re with me,” she said to Nat and headed toward the lifesigns.
Debris littered their path, leading her to believe there was some sort of attack on the vessel before they’d been left adrift. She carefully made her way over several broken panels, pausing to scan them. After a moment, she opened another panel and pulled out a tool kit. She worked on some of the circuits and suddenly some of the power was restored, lighting up the path they were on.
“I don’t know how long that will last, but it should keep us from getting injured.” She continued on, wiping her hands off on her pants. She ducked as she made her way to the door the lifesigns were behind. Motioning for him to come closer, she gripped the edge of the door. “Help me open this.”
"Don't you dare throw up on me."
“I told you I’m sick, I can’t help it.” He rolled his eyes and sighed. “But either way I hope this flight is over soon.
“What’s going on?” One asked in concern as a light hand touched his forehead. For some reason asking if someone was alright meant temperature had to be checked as well.
"I can’t hold them for much longer! You need to go now!"
Brow arched, stern dark eyes swing to glare Bennet’s way. Calm and collected, One took the weapon from the other woman. “Back to the shuttle,” she snapped out her terse command. “That’s an order Counselor!”
One couldn’t help admiring the use of mental diversion. She was capable of the same, but didn’t do so as it was frowned upon. Of course One was probably the only person around that would know exactly where the feeling came from and she wouldn’t be saying a word about it.
When the first officer returned, she was limping a bit and all but carrying their battered captain. It had been well over ten minutes, but now wasn’t the time to correct Rou. Silently, she nodded for the other woman to go on. She had this as always.
Of course upon arrival, McCoy was not the happiest with One. He lectured her as he stabilized her legs and helped ease her pain. Usually, One sniped back at him with her own barbs, now, she brooded silently. The guilt she felt over Pike’s death was weighing hard on her.
Once she was comfortable in a room, she kept her hand in Charlie’s. “Do you know when Sandra will arrive?”
Guilt || M’Hari
M’Hari listened, nodding softly. “I understand you don’t trust me. I don’t blame you. If it helps at all, I work for Pike exclusively.” Pike was known to be one of the few higher ups that was more inclined to follow morality rather than what the ‘company,’ as it were, wanted.
“You will not be expected to continue. We do, however, want all the information you have. Even your hypothesis on the events that took place. The event wasn’t exactly sanctioned. Olduvai went rogue, the scientists were not reporting as they should have been.” M’Hari figured being open was the best policy with this particular woman.

I actually write Spock (part of why I was asking about him) and I wouldn't want to deter from the character he is/was under Pike. I am curious how your reboot character differs. Was she working for Pike while Spock taught at the Academy or...?
|| I’d love to have a Spock! I want you to play him as you see fit, I would never ask anyone to change just for me.
My headcanon for the AOS verse is that things would be basically the same, previous to the Academy (the 2009 movie), Pike, One, and Spock would have served together (possibly about the York, though that’s not canon for AOS). Once the ship was retired, many of the crew retired, joined the Academy as instructors, or transferred to other vessels.
While Pike was commandant of cadets and Spock and instructor, Number One remained Pike’s first officer in hopes of serving with him on the Enterprise.
I headcanon that she was the spitfire woman in the 2009 movie that made McCoy sit his ass down.
When they are on the ship, she’s the woman at the engineering console. Leaving Spock to be first officer as she was supposed to have been aboard the Yorktown.
Number One making McCoy sit down.
Number One to McCoy’s left.
See the concern when Kirk burst onto the bridge? That’s why I have headcanon that that’s Number One.
Yes, I realize they are two different actresses, but to me she deserved to be around and the scenes seem to fit her in my opinion.
Chapel's actress played her!? I didn't know they were the same woman. I'm decently acquainted with TOS (read as: I've watched maybe 20 of the episodes and all the movies except the first (also deterred from watching until I'd seen the others and never got to it either)). I do know the Kelvin AOS timeline better (sorry), but I'm at a total loss for any of the other series (there's a prequel one right?). It's a weird mix of knowing decent amount about a very very small part of the whole franchise.
|| Yes, Majel Roddenberry played both Number One and Christine Chapel as well as portraying Lwaxana Troi (Counselor Troi’s mother) in The Next Generation and Seep Space Nine.
I have no problem ‘rebooting’ Number One. I thoroughly enjoy both versions. No worries, my friendly anon, I don’t expect you to know all about Star Trek. Just play your character as you feel them and things will be just fine.
And yes, there was a prequel, Enterprise.
My muse's phone has been off for three days. What sort of text messages or voice messages does your muse leave for them?
Is her relation to Chapel canon, or headcanon? And you said they gave her traits to Spock in the second episode, so was Spock not Vulcan (as we know it) in the show? I know there are gifs of him in the long neck shirt, did she work with him? I would love so much to meet your lovely muse, but I really feel I should watch these episodes before I do. D: I was actually discouraged from watching it first until I knew the other crew (Kirk's) and I feel bad now that I haven't ever gotten back to it.
|| The relation to Christine Chapel is not canon. Majel Roddenberry (who played both characters) made that joke once and I find it interesting to explore the idea.
As shown in this screencap, Spock was more ‘humanized’ in The Cage.
The ‘blue shirt’ behind Number One and Pike is Spock. They were shown to be fairly close in the Early Voyages comics released in the 1980s and based on The Cage crew.
As for feeling bad, please don’t. It’s such a rare episode. I have never expected anyone to watch it first. Number One and I are more than happy to work with anyone.
If you are only familiar with the JJ Abrams verse, please know TOS is completely different. Pike didn’t know Kirk hardly at all. However, I am more than willing to roleplay in that same verse as I am well acquainted with all Trek.

Can you tell me about number one? Is that her name? I only watched a bit of TOS but wasn't the first episode the only one with a different crew? It was Pikes or something? I feel bad saying I haven't seen it but please tell me about her? I'm genuinely curious!!
|| Thank you for this kind question.
Number One was Pike’s first office. She was only seen in The Cage and The Menagerie. The Menagerie was more like a toss in of The Cage to use the footage Roddenberry used.
She’s been mentioned in a few novels and, using the ones I’ve read, I’ve tried to make her as whole as I can.
Number One has been cast as unflappable. Most comparable with Mister Spock in that she is has small emotional reactions, she’s more intelligent and stronger than humans. I’ve tried to portray her as such adding a want to adjust to being human as she is half human.
Number One is a title given to her as the most intelligent of her ‘breed group’ (the other Ilyrians her age) and used as Pike in reference to first officer of old naval vessels. There is debate regarding her actual name. In novels she’s been given many different names such as: Una (a play on Number One), Lefler, Hudek, and others. I, personally, use the name M’Hari as it sounds alien and has been used in most Pike centered fanfictions.
As above mentioned, she is not fully human. She’s half Ilryan. There is nothing in canon known about them, but from what is seen in canon they are very logic like Vulcans. That’s because in the second pilot (Where No Man Has Gone Before) all of Number One’s traits were given to Spock to make him seem more ‘alien’ compared to the rest of the crew.
That’s the basics, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. And again, thank you!
|| Yeah, looks like I was missed. Has Number One run her course? 10 years and only minimal interactions. Should I really archive as some very ‘kind’ anons have ‘politely’ pointed out?
I’d love to make a McCoy and really get myself back in here, but is it worth it. Anyone care?

|| Coming to this account makes me feel a bit depressed. I see all these people interacting and none with me. I do have a few that have stuck by me, so this isn’t a goodbye. I just feel unneeded by most, so I won’t be here every day anymore. I’ll work on a queue and save drafts, but only do replies once a week.
Have a great Christmas and happy New Year.
