capitalism didn’t “commodify rebellion and call it punk rock”; punk was built by the working class as a pushback against the family values and the rise of the moral majority in the 60s and 70s. punk bands used to wear docs onstage as a sign of solidarity with the factory workers and farmers; the only folks who used to wear docs back then. what capitalism did was compress the ideology of punk into generalized anger against older generations, retaining none of the nuance or politics that it was built on. hot topic is commodified punk. the idea that you have to buy punk clothes is commodified punk
joe biden’s resumé, in order of importance:
caused fall out boy
46th president of the united states of america
the first time i ever heard about biden “causing” fob was in a tik tok and for some reason my immediate thought was that mr joseph biden himself told these motherfuckers to start a band, pep talk and everything. and then my second thought was maybe he had some connection with a record label, and called them up like “yeah, man, got this great band, great group of kids”
it never crossed my mind that pete wentz’s parents met at a fucking biden campaign
and it continues btw
I would absolutely KILL to be annoyed by a Tallie at a show right now
where are my goth friends who will take flattering candids of me at the cemetery
