Didn’t think I would ever have to do this, but here I am.
In case you don’t remember me, hi, I am formerly Luke Teth of the ES/EQ/Cavaletti/I don’t even know anymore — The TS3 horse community. You may know me for the various HD mods I made, or really any number of CC I made, I don’t really remember it all, but the HD mods were the big and popular ones. I’m no longer active within these communities by any means, but I know my mods and custom content are still out there being used by the folks who are. That’s great! That genuinely makes me happy to know that people are still enjoying what I made, even if I’m no longer in the community or directly engaging with it.
It’s been brought to my attention that there’s been an instance of someone using my HD mods as a base for theirs, and then locking it behind a Patreon paywall. Upon investigating, I confirmed this is true (I can always tell when someone is using my HD mod as a base). This is completely unacceptable to me, as someone who always kept my content free and my TOU pretty loose in terms of restrictions.
I am fine if you edit my CC. I am fine if you use it as a base to make your own CC. I am very much not okay with you editing my content or using it as a base for yours, and then profiting off of that resulting content. Sure, it’s transformative, but it’s still using my content without my explicit permission for financial gain. I never made a single cent of money off what I did for the community, and I never did it with the expectation of making money. So why should you? I don’t know, it just makes me really sad to think about this. I really can’t believe this even happened.
So TL;DR, respect the creators you use content from, even if we aren’t active anymore. We will find out. We always do. And please never sell anything I made for your own profit, even if you’ve edited it. I learned to make my textures from scratch; so can you.
Also, consider this carte blanche to edit any of my CC to make your own, I know people have tried to contact me previously via this Tumblr about that, but obviously, it has not been checked in a while. Just don’t sell it, profit off it, etc. That’s all I ask. Credit would be nice, but since I’m not really around anymore that doesn’t really matter as much.
